All the Beastie Boys acapellas are available for free to fans primarily for remixing thier songs at BeastieBoys.Com(official Beastie Boys Site).....So I really don't think that it is copyright infingement. There is a remix forum over there with ton's...There are no retail copyrighted Beastie Boys songs in this download...

I just thought it would be cool for NBA Live/Beastie Boy's fans...

"We've launched a new section on the site offering Beastie Boys A Cappellas for you to download and use for your own personal remixes (along with tempo information for most tracks)." -BeastieBoys.com

Must say these songs are a MUCH better fit to a basketball game then the music that shipped with the game

great job (although there is 1 song that isn't replaced)
Opinions are my own.

I have no problem with this currently, especially if it's released in the format specifically for NBA Live -- though I'll be sure to bring it up as we discuss updating the forum's rules.

Song2 is the one that isn't replaced.

Take a look at the 1v1 and practice sound FX. The other idea I had was to replace the arena announcer with full music tracks, but I never tried that. I mean dont stress too much over this, having windows media player or winamp playing while playing the game isn't the end of the world.
Opinions are my own.

Song 2 Replacements

Postby CosmoKramer422 on Thu Dec 14, 2006 4:52 am

JaoSming wrote:Song2 is the one that isn't replaced.

Awesome, thanks man....I appreciate that...I've added two more songs, so that you guys can choose which one you want to add in, if you decide to change the one I left in by accident, that is.....They are both in NBA Live format...

1. Beastie Boys - 3 The Hard Way (Super Mario Bros. Remix)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I4XHLLRF
Cool Mario beat....My first choice..this is the one I replaced song 2 with in my game....

2. Beastie Boys - Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun (Empire Remix)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CVKGPT3G
This one is cool to....It get's you kind of amped up.....It's really up to you which one you wan't, check them both out and pick the best one you like to replace it with...

I am aware that there are a couple of songs that are the same, lyric wise...But all the music is different, i assure you....I think there are only 2 tho....

I'm pretty sure you guys know how to replace the song.....But just incase....

Click one of the links:
Save to: "x":\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 07\audio\music
When it ask's to replace....Click Yes...That's it...

Once again, thank you, I'm glad you guys are digging this.... :D

And I gotta say...I think this site is top notch....What you guys are doing over here is amazing.......What would LIVE be without this site and all the patcher that contribute.....but this isn't the time nor the place to answer that question.....

EDIT: Kick ass dude, Loving the American Woman, We Will Rock You, and Eurythmics backgrounds. any plans to do anything besides beasties?

Sorry High5, but that patch does not work with 07.

Btw, is there anyway to change the song titles and the artists' names in the menu when the song starts playing?

It's possible with a Hex editor. You search for FXEdit32, download it, install it, run it after installation and open the locale.eng file in X:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 07\loc folder. Make sure that the titles that are to be replaced have the same number of characters or less than the original characters, or else some characters will cross to other text portions of the game. (I remember putting "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz, then I replaced the artist name and got Kravitz's name exceed the original title character length. Then I saw a letter 'z' in the PDA settings window in Dynasty mode, which i presume to be the 'z' in Kravitz)

Oh wow, awesome, I'm going to give it a shot.....Let's see what happens...Thanks for the info, bro....

Illini: I'm glad your enjoying it, man....And to answer your question...No, I only got into the Beastie remixing thing about July of this year, after going to the site and seeing other fans make remixes...I was amazed, and I thought I'd read up about it and give it a shot.....I made about 60 or so mixes, and picked the best for NBA Live....I love the Beasties, and can't see myself remixing anybody else.....

I've download FXEdit32, and looked in the locale.eng in the directory you specified..I couldn't find the text where the EA Traxx were or any information about the artist name or song name...I even downloaded another Hex editor, so that I can go fullscreen and view more text instead of scrolling...But no, luck.......Could it be in another file? Did you do this with 07 or 06?

****Sorry, I realize that I should've edited my last post, instead of posting another..****

It is in the locale.eng file. You don't need to scroll down, you need to use the program's Search function.

My bad, I forgot to tell you how to use it. Make sure that you backup your locale.eng (.jap, .ger, etc) before editing.

Run NBA Live, take out a notebook, and write down EVERY TRACK NAME, TITLE, ALBUM AND ARTIST from the EA Trax list ingame.

Click Search>Find String in FXEdit. Type the string that you're looking for(it's case sensitive, since you are editing Hex characters).

FXEdit has two window panels, the left panel is the String panel(all ingame text are seen here, except for the credits). The right panel is the Hex panel(the equivalent of the strings on the left panel).

Example, you want to replace the artist name "Black Eyed Peas", you should type Black Eyed Peas in the Search window, make sure you hit the right uppercase and lowercase characters.

Then click Edit>Edit String or press Ctrl + E to edit the Black Eyed Peas string. Type in Beastie Boys. If you replace "Black Eyed Peas" with "Beastie Boys", there will be excess characters "eas". To remove this, make sure the square indicator is still with the letter "e" of the "eas", then click Edit>Edit Hex or press Ctrl + K to edit the Hex equivalent. Here you should press "0" 12 times to completely remove the excess characters. As you do this, you would see the "eas" characters replaced with three dots. This means that you have removed the excess characters. Then save your file.

PS: If you want to remove the Album field from the Hex file, search for the album title, hit Ctrl + K then enter 0's until all string equivalents are replaced with dots.

Hope this helps, I really can't write tutorials that well.
