Lighting on self made cyberfaces!?

Can anyone tell me how the hell I can get rid of the extreme lightning effect on self made cyberfaces?

I've been searching in the forums but just couldn't find anything...

BTW - Thanks for the great sweat patch!
I got the arms and leg patch running but how can I do it with the face patch?
Making it transperent in Photoshop changes the skin color to much...
And I dunno what you mean with alphas...

An alpha is an optional extra channel in an image. Most images are made up of three channels, red, green, and blue. An alpha is another channel, which is normally used to define transparency in an image. The alpha is a channel consisting of grayscale, so its black and white and everything inbetween, but no color. In Live 07, the cyberfaces contain an alpha channel but the NBa Live graphics engine uses the alpha to define how much light a face gets. Black areas in the alpha get no light, while white areas get a full amount of light. The reason cyberfaces that don't have an alpha end up being really shiny in-game is because if the image doesn't contain an alpha, the game thinks the alpha is all-white, thus the cyberface is all shiny.

Thanks for the info.

But how can I change the alpha chanel or add your sweat alphas into it? (the shiny effect should disapear with your sweat alphas, too, right?)

That is a tutorial I made for adding my sweat alphas, but you will need Adobe Photoshop to do it. Yes the shiny effect should disapear if you use my sweat alphas.

There is a free Photoshop-like program called gimp. You can find it at gimp.org. I have no idea how to use it, but I have heard it is very much like Paint Shop Pro.

So the basic version of Gimp can view and edit .dds-files?
Or do I have to install the plugin mentioned above on Gimp then?

There is a plugin for opening dds files in gimp, just search google for it.

Damn, editing dds files with Gimp is way more complicated than it looks like with Photoshop in your tutorial!!!

You can't edit the alpha channel as easy (I don't know how at all)... The sweat alphas got 3 layers (red, green, blue) wich always deletes the cyberface of the guy you're trying to edit completly. There is no RGB Channel at all. And the worst thing is that there is a chessfield like pattern all over the pic... it's hard to see the cyberface out of that at all.

In other words, I don't know what to do now.

Is anybody outthere who knows how to edit it with Gimp???
