can you help me with this??(video card issue)

Postby adz192 on Fri Sep 29, 2006 8:54 pm

I just wanna ask you if I could still get the detail of the face when the lighting is turned on even if i can't turn on the lighting option..
Even without the other options(eg. environment detail) turned on would make me really really happy..
I really feel envious when I see real good textures from your screenshots.. My video card is just Nvidia Geforce4 MX440 with AGP 8x 64mb 128-bit..

Or

Can you make a patch that would change the default face textures to the textures when the lighting option is turned on..

i wish this would be possible.. :(

Your videocard doesnt support the game

The NVIDIA GeForce2/4 MX series are also not supported.
Ensure that you have the latest display driver installed from the vendor’s
official website: www.ati.com, www.nvidia.com, www.intel.com.

That video card is supported. Its going to take a bit of CPU to make the game playable, but its definately going to work.

The minimum requirements suggests a GeForce3 or 7500 64mb radeon or better.
The 4MX is the geforce2 core, but still a powerful video card when it comes down to the games minimums.

The truth of the matter is, gameplay will not be possible unless your other components make up for what your video lacks.

Geforce 4 MX is a geforce2 with an added instruction set to handle DX7 w/o emulation.
Its not as powerful as the TI series. Heck, the TI series holds its own with most of the 5 series.

The GF4MX has been out for almost 5 years, but this game is a week old. Thats why it doesnt support it.

Some of the supported cards are ridiculously cheap - your best bet is to get a new one, as yours is very outdated.

By no means does AA and AF indicate an exceptional card.

Well, many cards will allow you to turn these on, but your fps will drop dramatically with older cards...
I'm guessing that you can't play at a high resolution with your ATI 9250, right?

OK, I just finished reading this thread and couldn't figure this out:

Does or doesn't an ATI Radeon 9258, 128MB support lighting?
