Question About Blocks (And Q for Andrew)

Postby MLG33 on Wed Nov 15, 2006 12:13 am

I have the game, and I play it User Vs User with a friend.

I've been playing it for months and I noticed that it was very hard to block a jump shot...
I only see one in a game, sometimes none.

I know how to play defense but, is it me ?
Or is it that difficult in this nba live to make a shotblock ?

Q for Andrew: What do you really think of this game ?
Are you disgusted ? Just disappointed ? Or beyond those big issues such as substitutions, you are still pleased with the game.

BTW, when will you release Your roster update ?
(meanwhile, what roster update do you recommend ? Jimmy's ?)

Thanks, and this website is awesome !

Actually, I'm experiencing the same thing, with both blocks and steals. My sliders are very high for these 2 and I hardly make any in-game...

Out of all the things wrong with this game and you complain about block shots..lets keep it simple for EA because they're not too bright over there and lets stick with elementary things like creating a patch that actually patch.

Well, none of us really have the clout to say what is and isn't important. To me, the teams not being able to have black socks is a big issue -- while some others think it's mundane and silly. Different strokes for different folks.

I would like to note, however, that in the NBA, there isn't a wealth of blocked jumpers. It's a pretty rare occurrance. Might I ask how many blocks total per game you're averaging, or rather, how many would it be per 48 minutes??

That reminds me, I must get my review done.

In a nutshell, aside from all the bugs in the game I can still see the good I first noticed at the community event, though there are things I'm disappointed with. It's disappointing that a game with some genuinely good features is marred by the problems that plague it but I still feel I'll be playing the game this year.

I block about 3 blocks a game, superstar level, 12min/q. On average about 2.5 of those 3 are blocked lay-ups or dunks. Shotblock slider at 100, Dunk/Layup block slider at 85. And atleast every other blocked jumpshot isn't registered... (N)

Very Hard to block at all, But on NBA 2k7 you can block jumpshots if you got the right timing.

Ok, thanks everyone.

I make blocks against my friend, but only when he tries a lay up or a dunk...
I have made 10 shotblocks since I have the game. (1 month)

(To everyone : Check the post concerning the "MONEY TIME inbound play")
Thx

I opened a thread for that in 06 and I really think things have improved this year.

Blocking jumpshots should not happen too often, you really need a good timing for that and it is possible, I think the chances in comparison to last year are about 10 times better to block jumper, especially the big swat animation by the "Inside Stopper" has a lot more range now. You also have two different kinds of animations depending on which direction you push, one is better for blocking jumpers.

Also I have to say that the "jump" rating is now very important. Blocking shots with LBJ is not that hard, especially with your shot block slider at 100.

Blocking is just not so much predictable this year, like just pushing the button at the right time, but trying to find the right position (and with Inside Stoppers the right kind of block)

So I think the game has improved in this case. I have way more problems with interceptions this year than with blocks.
