Shoe DBF Editing

Postby LZeppelin on Sun Nov 05, 2006 7:24 am

I have recognized that there is a bug in the game regarding shoes, and I'm wondering if there is some sort of fix other than dbf editing. If not, I need help changing the shoes.

Whenever I change the origshoe and origashoe values, or any value for that matter, using DB Commander, then exit, the changes are not made in the game, or when I open the file again with the program.

If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong, whether it is the column in DB Commander or how to save the dbf, I would be very grateful.

What I do is tweaking the appearance.dbf, not the players.dbf. There's a value for home and away shoes and it does work in-game when you change them. It's a hassle but well...

Thanks for your response!

Unfortunately though, a problem still remains. When I edit the file, it never changes when I reopen it, or in the game.

Editing appearance.dbf still does not change the shoe, unless I am editing the wrong player.

Is the appearid file in appearance the same value as playerid in players.dbf?

Yes...it works for me..maybe you edited the wrong player..or you opened the wrong file. like editing players' shoes from dynasty or exhibition

I finally got it to start saving when I exit DB Commander, but it doesn't change in game. The chances are that I'm doing something wrong, so if anyone would be willing to take the time to give me step by step instructions on how to change Dwyane Wade's shoes to one of the converse ones in the patch, I would be very thankful.

I appreciate the helpful responses I have received so far.

Where are you going to check your changes, Edit Player?? Go straight to Play Now after changing the shoes to see if they've fixed. I've had no problem editing in the DBFs this way.

Sometimes with DB Commander, it doesn't save the last change you make. What works for me, is to make the changes I want to make then reset random values for some scrub before exiting.

To make sure DB Commander saves your last move, either click the little check mark, or move to a completely different field and click on it. Using those 2 methods, I've yet to run into a problem. (Y)

I appreciate all the help!

I managed to update shoes and all, but then I ran into issues.

After installing the Real Shoes Patch V 3.0 it still worked, but once I installed the accurate, I couldn't change Dwyane Wade's shoes back to what they were before installing the accurate file.

I have been editing the appearance.dbf in the save, originaldb, workingdb, and currentdb. Is there something else I need to change in order to apply changes?

Or do I need to take the shoe patch accurate off?

In appearance.dbf in your MyDocument/saves/roster, just don't forget to load each time you play.
