Direct Pass Function --> Small Forward/Center

Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

Direct Pass Function --> Small Forward/Center

Postby bmwally2002 on Wed Oct 25, 2006 4:18 am

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and I performed a search but could not see if this has been discussed yet.

I've owned the NBA Live Series on PC since 2001, and get the new version every year. One constant I've always enjoyed is that the direct pass buttons are always the same. I just recently got 07, and was a little dismayed to find out that on the direct pass function Center, which has always been triangle and Small forward which has always been X, have been switched.

Do you know if this is by design or a glitch. If this is by design, does anyone know how to configure my controller to the "OLD SCHOOL WAY". I have a logitech game pad, as reccommended by EA Sports.

Thanks a lot.

its by design bmwally, as for your configuring the old school way i'm unsure...i have the logitech too...it was bad when i first got the game but now i'm used to the center being pass and have had no issues...

I agree. I've screwed up fast breaks because of this change. I would get a half-court violation instead.

this is my number one peeve this year. I still feel tremors when I :shake: avoid using it the old way. kinda hard getting un-used to it.

should we get used to it or EA will change it back in the patch and future nba lives? i don't see the point of interchanging it after so many years. i think EA just messed up and tells... "it's working as designed" (N)

In the patch they changed the C/PF button mix-up. Why wouldn't they just change it, if they were already changing the direct passing configuration to begin with? Some people are so friggin' skeptical.

I don't think you can configure direct pass without also configuring the pass and rebound button. you may choose to press triangle to pass to your center but that triangle will also be the pass button. just a thought.

No. I mean C/PF. In that, the words 'Dunk' and 'Layup' were mixed up by default (if you haven't installed EA's beta patch, they still are)... So, why wouldn't they just fix this goof while they were at it, if it were intended that way?

It's very simple. It takes about 30 minutes of playing to get used to it, and then it's behind you. The fact that people continue to hinge on this is bothersome.

and if its really that bad to the point were you cant play, go through the entire roster and change all the centers to small forwards and all small forwards to centers
Opinions are my own.

That wouldn't make a difference since it depends on in-game assignment. ;)

Both the news post on the official site and the beta version suggest the official fix will resolve this issue.

ihave antoher question. you guys talking about the "layup"button is for center and the "dunk" button for the power forward (or other way around). how do you do that? holding direct pass button and then pressing the "dunk" or "layup button?
because when i press the direct pass button my player throws the ball random to a player. it's always different.

can you tell me how that works? because its annoying that i can't play pick and roll oder pick and pop how i would like to.

in ya face, sounds like you have buttons assigned wrong....direct pass and pass to closest player should be separate buttons....direct pass will bring up words over all your player's head saying "shoot" "layup" etc. ....the confusion is between SF and PF's prepatch however...while it says dunk above the PF's head, you have to push layup and vice versa....and the pick and pop...thats usually when you already have a shooter, you go around the pick and just shoot it, not sure what you're trying to do with that play.....the pick and roll thing i'll agree with you on, it'd be a pain to have a random pass on that play
