Rebounding

Postby jesed_s on Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:42 am

Does anyone have trouble rebounding the ball?? Every time I press jump to rebound the ball, my player jumps BACKWARDS... AWAY FROM THE ball.. is this just me or does it happen to everyone else? My players can never jump straight up for the rebound.... they always jump backwards! SO DAMNANNOYING!

It happens to me sometimes but in my experience it's usually only when there's a long rebound and my player is too close to the basket.

It happens to me on occasion and is super annoying. Maybe it's possible to remove that specific animation (if the jump back one is different from the straight back one) or something.

yah...EA mess up the rebounding control this time, instead of rebounding towards the ball the players back off GRRRRRRRRRR! I liked the passing and rebounding in 06 rather than 07's...we don't have full control of the ball

if you know it happens why dont you adjust your positioning to grab the boards? Not saying its good physics or realistic whatsoever, i understand its terrible...but if you know your players gonna behave a way, why not adjust to it?

i agree that its a problem, but like illini, i just adjust to it and deal...one thing i have found is that the default offensive rebounding is too high. i lower it for both me and the computer as most boards should be pulled down by the defense

rebounding is a problem at first, but as I play it I noticed that the rebounder jumps backward when he's too close to the ring OR when he jumps TOO EARLY while the ball is in the air. You also need to take note of the player's jumping ability, his height and of course rebounding ability. Also use your left analog stick upon getting the rebound, i think it helps in getting the direction of the rebounder at the right spot.

One more thing I noticed about offensive rebounding.... in Live06 when you take a perimeter shot you can quickly switch to a player nearest the basket after you let go of the ball to make an offensive rebound. I can't do that in Live07 which is very frustrating. :(

I've changed offensive(defensive) settings to 0(0) both for player and CPU, and have no troubles with rebounds. Dunno how does it works :? but rebound stats for each game are about 40-50 tot. rebs(10-15 off.) @ 10 mins per quarter. Also players do not jump away from the ball (maybe 1-2 time per game). Try this by youself, maybe it would help.

When you want to rebound you must press the rebound button + the directional sticks!!!Then the player jumps in the direction you want him to jump... (Y)

yeah i never tweak the sliders. i think its a form of not only cheating you but also the computer. i get around 39 rebounds a game and thats pretty low since i play on 9 minute quarters.

i use to have the jump back problem also, but like dude said it only happens when i'm to close to the rim or just press it to early.

Rebouding in this game is so difficult and also very dodgy. EA seriously need to get their gameplay right because in 06 i could rebound easily and not let the opposition get offensive rebounds.

umm...that doesn't really make sense considering you "tweak" the sliders not to make it more or less difficult (either of those is obviously possible), but rather to make it more realistic. e.g., live07 has skewed the rebounding in that there is an unrealistic proportion of offensive rebounds, so lower the slider.

The offensive rebounding bug is still in the game! Somehow though it doesn't piss me off as much as last year but nevertheless it still exists. I've set the rebounding sliders to 0/100 for both me and the cpu but still in every game there's a time when the cpu will grab every offensive rebound and you can't do much to prevent it. That results in about 15 O.REB for both teams which is too many. And the "magnetic hands" effect is more notable than ever.

WHAT!!!!!??????? There were more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds in almost every game I played in 06. I got so sick of it. You play good defense and the other team gets the ball after a missed shot. The rebounding is much better in 07. No 3 minute possessions by one team cause they get the boards.

Also, both games suck in that there's no way to box out.

hold the right analog stick down to make a box out. The only problem is when you are grabbing an offensive rebound, it is hard to switch from shooter to rebounder after making a jump shot.

i agree with you. rebounding in 07 is better than in 06. passing is very hard in 07. it's easy for the cpu to intercept the ball. but it is hard when you are the one trying to intercept a pass.

You should be able to box out by pressing down on the right analog stick, but I've never successfully did it in 07. In 06 I have, but it was rarely. I think its a waste of time to try to get it to trigger it because I have never done it in 07. So I rely on timing and the superstar rebound.

Whenever I am too close to the basket, I usually give up an offensive rebound. I've only noticed my player jumping backwards on the offensive side of the basket. I try to stay outside the charge zone when going for a defensive rebound and it works pretty well for me.

You can always just cheat on the offensive side and use the tipin button, it has the cheapest "matrix" effect of all the animations. I've actually tipped in a previous tipin withthe same player before it even touched the rim. It can also interrupt tlayup collision animations.

I'll accept the "jumping away from the ball" as a bug, but the rest is a rating, slider, or player problem. It is possable to get a realistic offensive/defensive rebounding ratio using the current game.

Lets, please, not do to Point Guards and offensive rebounds what we have already done to blocked shots.
