Should I get the game?

Postby oboeguy on Wed Oct 18, 2006 6:42 am

I've played a number of NBA Live iterations on the Sega Genesis, PC and Xbox through the years. I used to post here a lot, in fact, but it's been a while. I didn't like '05 very much on the Xbox so I tried 2k6 on the 360 ht next year. I didn't like that much either as I was never comfortable playing it -- I suppose I was used to Live game mechanics. The question is, should I bother with Live '07, or 2k7 for that matter? I've soured quite a bit on bball games recently as there doesn't seem to be much fundamental gameplay progress from year to year. TIA.

2k7 is the "new live". I've played it, I love it. I don't own a system to play it on, though. I highly reccomend it.

Haven't played 2k7, but if you're an Nba live fan it's worth buying it. Before I got the game i read all the impressions of the people here and I thought the game was crap, I didn't expect much but when i finally got it got a pleseant surprise. There's a lot of improvements and adittions that makes the game enjoyable.

Believe me, it's worth it, especially now that the official patch is gonna be released.

Will the patch apply to the 360 too? I do 99% of game playing on it now (99% of limited game playing time, that is, which is why I'm being more cautious this year before sinking time into another game).

If you're playing on the 360, get 2K7. I played both, and it's not even close.

I still think Live for PC is going to be excellent after the patch. I think the gameplay is excellent after a bit of tweaking, and I'm growing weary of all the people trashing the game when it's going to be exactly what we expected after the patch is done.

(If someone complains about PG domination in response to this post, I may just become homicidal. Check out the petition thread if you don't understand why and wish to find out.)

I almost didn't get this game on behalf of a mixture of reviews/comments around the interweb. I'm rather thankful i picked it up anyway for PC. I'm really enjoying it. I'd also like to note i pick up the Live games each year on XBOX. This time proves to be my first PC Live experience, perhaps why i'm enjoying it much more. The patchers here at NLSC are amazing and i'm really glad they are constantly hard at work releasing top notch stuff for us. (Y)

If you've got Live 06 then don't buy it. This game is basically NBA Live 06 version 2.0 It's a bit of an update from last year's version but at the moment not enough to spend $75 on.

Just like other people mentioned get 2k7 if you got a 360. Don't waste your time and money on live 07 even if its patched via xbox live, the foundations of live 07 don't come close to 2k7. If you are really really really used to live mechanics then I suggest wait for Nba Street Vol. 4. its not that close to live but its more than 2k.
