82 game problem - not an issue for me

I have the PC version and it's quite simple to adjust the 82 game setting. Just change the setting to Custom (as opposed to NBA schedule), adjust the # of games to 28, 52, 82, and switch back the Custom switch. Or is everyone talking about dynasty mode which I never try or care about.

That they are (talking about dynasty). So even though it is not an issue for you, it still is a legitimate problem for others.
