Hmm....are you talking about automatic replays? Those were replaced last year with the FSS replays, which everyone was annoyed with, and it is the same this year. Of course, you can still use the manual replay from the pause menu.

not automatic, if you do a freestyle superstar move and press the dunk button(old pro hop button) the replay comes on . but if you like score a nice three or dunk then you might get a celebration animation.

to all the people hating on the new version. you all have no idea.

this game is sweet, coming from a every year liver since Showdown 94.

Big thanks to EA

the only bad thing I cant seem to dunk with Haslem or hit 18footers with him :!:

Have some of you noticed that the CPU never unlocks the x-factor when it is possible ?

Thu Sep 28, 2006 9:50 am

Just saw a wacky bug. I committed an offensive foul with Jermaine O'Neal, Rasheed did his little charge celebration thing, then Tayshaun came over and picked up the ball to go inbound it. Marv Albert then said "Prince with the rebound." I tried to check to see if it was actually recorded as a rebound but I couldn't tell...sorry to bring more dismal news.

EDIT: Forgot to include the other weird thing happening in this Pistons - Pacers game. For some reason the general crowd noise isn't playing at all, so unless some scripted crowd sound happens, like after a made shot or a steal, there's absolutely no sound except for the ball bouncing. I don't think this happened in the first few games I played or I would have noticed it.

On current gen is there a fss rating that you can change in the edit player,
:

Last Live had an update for that.....

I just played my first game,
I used the Lakers to play against New Orleans.
It was a really exciting match.
I was behind 59-60 with 26 seconds left, Hornets ball.
I decided not to take the time out and tried to use double team to trap them.
Paul was being pressed and he wanted to passed it out of the double team.
(It is a result of intensity. In the first half when I doubled team he would split it with ease)
But he passed it out of bounds!
When I got the ball with Kobe, I tried to drive, but too many people there;
I didn't force it and passed it to Lamar who was under the basket.
He got double team very soon, I didn't think he would make the basket,
but suddenly I saw somebody got open and he was Radmanovic;
I passed to him and he shot, MADE it with 4.4 seconds left!!!!
(Y) It was only his second field goal in the whole game 8-)

However, Hornets still had a time out,
they chose to inbound the ball to West,
who was 1 on 1 against Brown under the basket,
he tried to make a hook shot and..........

miss~

I am quite satisfied with this game.
I think may be the computer will decide who to have the ball in the late of the game depends on clutch rating. (Since West got the ball instead of the PG Paul)
Also, I knew that computer would not make substitution.
So I have to manually substitute for them, however, when the quarter ended,
they will change back to their starting lineup when the new quarter began.

In dynasty they still of course have a silouette of someone and no cyberfaces for portraits right?

I don't know that yet...
I was too busy fixing my controller since I couldn't use the right analog to change the FSS of my players when I was playing in the game.
I was wondering if it was a bug, since my controller worked fine in the last version.
Then I discovered that the "Off ball button" is the one that we can change the FSS moves.

That's not a bad thing. I'd rather have that than a photo of a guy that I'll see again 3 years later in dynasty mode.

It's really hard not to be overwhelmed with the amount of ways to shoot using someone like Nowitzki - Shooter, Inside Scorer, Outside Scorer. It's almost distracting me from the game because I'm terrified of which Superstar type he's set to before I pass to him. I've thrown up so many 3-point layups it isn't even funny...

Did anyone else notice that the Clippers have a jersey called Europe Live? interesting

I've noticed several teams (I believe the Heat, IIRC) have these Euro Live jerseys. Wonder what they are for...

No, actually you can stop playing it if you have the PC version... right after every game when you go to Quit the match to play another game ( poof crash to desktop every fucking time ).

Sorry, just had to throw that in there for levity.

To be honest though, a level-headed approach is good and listing out what could be petitioned to be fixed is great. However, the petition process is a little too friendly for my tastes in that you shouldn't leave off things that clearly could be fixed ( unfortunately people think game development is some mystical process and it would take entirely too long for someone to fix a lot of these issues..... WRONG. ).

Really?i guess ill adopt this new method then since the subbing slider is missing..

Thu Sep 28, 2006 7:11 pm

Just a thought, since I don't have the game yet, but has anyone poked around in the settings files to see if a CPU sub slider setting is there and they just forgot to include it in the frontend?

Thu Sep 28, 2006 8:16 pm

What about ESPN Integration??

Thu Sep 28, 2006 10:54 pm

I like the Alley-oop/direct pass feature, Jay Will with a full court alley, and Haslem with the finish, don't see that too often.

I figured out why post play seems so demented to me - I often use the backdown followed by a drop-step, but with the default control scheme I have to hold down on the right analog stick, then hold it up to perform the drop step, and as I move the stick from down to up the player turns around. So it's nearly impossible to perform a drop-step in the correct context using this control config.

not only that, but it always seems the game takes ages to pro-hop and also given the control config clash between spin move and pro-hop... post move combos like in previous versions were rendered useless.

I guess this is the place to talk about my first impression. I have just picked up a copy of the PS2 version.

There are a couple things that bother me about the game. I have only played it once and on default settings. (I put it on allstar)

The graphics seem choppy and the game does not flow as well.
The game makes ill advised camera changes after a made basket for the other team. I will be on baseline hi then it will switch to the sideways view.

The freethrow shooting is tough, very tough.

I played the with the Clips and my first game was against San Antonio.
I lost 88-83 with Bruce Bowen dropping 44 on me. BRUCE BOWEN!!

I am going to have to adjust the sliders like hell, there was a foul on every play.

A lot of missed layups.

I am not happy (yet, as i may learn to like it) with the new freestyle controls. There is alot of accidental switching of freestyle types. I do to press L2 and right stick up to do a dunk but if I push too hard it switches me to 3 pointers and chock on the layup.

Commentating was good. Still alot of glitches. If I go for a steal and hit the ball out of bounds, ITS NOT A TURNOVER!!!

The overall game seems rushed but I am sure I will learn to love it. I liked where their heads were at but it seems that they were not too concerned with the PS2 game.

Even the booklet is about 7 pages long and looks like a xerox.

Going back to play now..............

Fri Sep 29, 2006 12:50 pm

TheFranchiseKing, does the CPU make any substitutions? I'm not sure I've seen any reports from people with the PS2 version. Wishful thinking on my part.

The underlying issue I have with the game is that the stick sensitivities are different than 06. You can't walk the ball up the court by lightly moving the left analog stick - he just grows straight to a light jog. And to use FSS moves, you have to hold the stick for about a half-second in whatever direction before the animation triggers. It's not all that intuitive.

Also, the animations that give the players a feeling of momentum that trigger when you switch direction don't seem to work if your player is moving laterally. You can still jerk back and forth wildly like 06 and the CPU will move with you - it hardly looks realistic and I thought the player weight system would do away with that.

Fri Sep 29, 2006 12:55 pm

As a matter of fact your right. The cpu had a few guys with 3-4 fouls and made so subs. Weird. I will check for that.

As for your other comments, I agree. The players still move all over the court. I was able to get into the lane all the time. The cpu was making ridiculous 3's late in the game.

The momentum meter and intensity seem to work. It was a total game of runs. It was whoever had the last run, won. I could not make a shot down towards the end of the game.
