What Will Happen With Nba Live 08?

Postby sammynine on Tue Aug 29, 2006 3:10 pm

Hey guys,

I don't post here much but I check the site out everyday. Anywho i was
checking out some of ign's vids they posted on NBA Live 07 and all i have
to say is nice graphics, but players move like horse poop. For me I see
the NBA 2k7 Next Gen bandwagon getting real close to me and asking me to hop on in. So what do you guys think of this, if sales fail for Nba live 07 this year do you guys think EA will get another division to work on it instead of EA Vancouver?

I think EA vancouver will always work on it. From what I've seen, certain divisions work on certain things, but I think EA Vancouver is by far the most experienced with the NBA Live franchise. They may leave most the developing up to a smaller company and take over the rights and control all the marketing and stuff like they do with Battlefield 2.

Dice, a smaller company, developed the game, while EA maintains the websites, markets and ships the game, and owns the rights to the franchise. That may happen, but I'm pretty sure it will probably sell well enough that wont be a problem. They'd either give it to a smaller company or drop it all together.

Besides in 08, its likely that all versions will be next-gen, including the PC version.

I wonder how many people that help make the game are actual NBA fans.

Why are you so sure that the PC version is going to be next-gen in 08?

It's not like I don't hope it to be, but EA brings me down every year about that issue...

...and at the end of the day..that's what it's all about for EA. Don't get caught up on thinking it's a fan service.

NBA Live 08 will fix a major bug in NBA Live 07, and it will have another major bug that NBA live 09 will solve.

It's been like that for years.

I don't think a petition will make much difference. Such a decision would be made according to sales figures and feasibility (both financial and technical).

But don't you think will should at least let EA know that many NBA Live fans would want them to do a next-gen version for the PC too? As for myself, as much as I would like to play the next-gen version, I won't spend my money on a XBOX360 or PS3 just for that reason. Another reason is that you can't make all the changes and patches for the consoles that you can do for the PC. I have played the NBA Live series on the PC even before of the next-gen stuff, so why can't I have the option to buy a next-gen version for my PC so I could enjoy it too?

EA should be embarrased if they read this thread. They even didn't release Live 07 and people is now thinking about Live 08. :D

I quess they will mantain the same development team unless they sold really few copies of the game.

They need to show some Real gameplay footage using the boradcast camera. Atleast try to convince people this game is the REAL DEAL. cause A lot of Ratings from users all over the Net, people aren't feelin this game. Neither am I at the moment!!

I don't think an angle viewing change can do much, I mean its not like the angle will magically change how the players move around and how they shoot. I was all excited when i saw the E3 video of Ea Showcasing their new player movement but i cant see anyoff that in this years game, everything looks off and supposidly this game is 90% complete. Why can't EA learn a thing or two from 2K sports? Im not a Fan boy or anything but NBA Live is really dying.

They would already know that. It's like andrew said, if they can afford to do it, and they can afford to do it well, then they will do it.

I think they are aware of it already, I mentioned it at the Community Day and it was one of the questions in the Next Gen producer interview that I should be getting back soon. A petition will not make any difference at this point, few petitions of that nature ever really accomplish much (snopes.com has a good article about that actually).

I think they will start sending e-mails to people who are subscribed to their site (EASPORTS.COM), asking for their honest feedback. I just did a survey for the new NBA Street, and they asked question on what you think of the game title, the synopsis and some other shit I can't think of right now. They REALLY need to do something like this for NBA Live 08, 09 2010 etc. It's good that they come to these boards to get some opinions, but they should have a bunch of questions and get us to answer them. Maybe we will get the game we've all been waiting for.

I honestly want to be a game tester for next years NBA Live next gen. Maybe I should send them some mail
