EA should implement 2 Pro Hop Moves for Offense and Defense

FOR DEFENSE: Having the ability to HOP before you Jump, it would be like taking a Pro Hop to get better timing for block and position of the block.

FOR OFFENSE: When you drive the ball to the hoop, you can double tab Pro Hop button to hold the ball and have the ability to take 2 to 3 steps while holding the ball and then lay it up, dunk, fade-away, shoot.

What ya think? Now please reply if you have any kind of opinion or question.

lol, I have never done a "Pro Hop" before trying to block a shot before in real life.

And for the offensive one, taking 3 steps would result in a traveling call (unless your're LeBron James taking it to the hole in a close playoff game against the Wizards).

Of course, taking two steps should be okay

Actually on the third step you will not be allowed to pick up the opposite of the pivot foot but must take a jump shot or pass. And yes I was mad at that LBJames traveling vs Wizs as well.

And about the defense pro-Hop move, I dont mean like a big hop before attempting a block, I mean a little shuffle feet hop of the ground as if you were trying to get full strength to jump off two feet by taking a little hop. Here is a perfect example:

You can see the little hops to get a good position for blocks and timing in all the videos.

I think that its a good idea, but it would make fouls really easy to pick-up.

Those aren't really hops, those are more like 2 footed gathers. I do the same thing too and it's because Kobe is a two footed jumper (I am too) and can jump higher off of two feet. It also helps the timing and slows down your momentum so you don't fly by if the offensive guy tries to adjust his shot.

I was about to say the same thing. maybe they should make it where if you hold the triangle button, it willm ake the player gather for a second or two and when you let go, they go up.

Hmm, starting to like the ideas of the gather. Maybe the developers could somehow just incorporate it into while we're running toward the opponent, we push the block button and it automatically does the two foot gather for you.

But maybe that would make it too easy to block shots if it worked too well.

Its already hard to block the damn Dunks that people pull off on the you like crazy, all you can really do is stand still and put your arms up to let the dunker fall over you (a foul or non-call)

It is a gathering, I just used the Pro Hop term so people would see what I ment by refering it to the offense but it is Gathering your feet like other said.

I want this input because when your on a fast break defense your palyer doesn't get infront of the dunker to attempt a block, instead he attempts a block from the back which 95% of the time will result in a dunk or a lay-up. The feature would be fun to use and make the game realistic instead of guys spinning and dunking the whole time.

Defense in NBA Live Series is OVERLOOKED by MANY people. I feed off of my defense in this game!

I think the game would be more realistic, who said timing is easy in real life? With practice in the game, people can have the ability to block dunks with good blockers unlike now you cannot even really attempt a block for dunks.

This move is strictly for timing the jump for blocks, etc. Since in the game the jump on defense is strictly as of now one motion jump and not having the ability to time the jump the way you want. It game doesn't give total control for defense jumping when it comes to blocking.

It would be a great idea. It would allow the user to be rewarded with good timing, especially the players with lower block ratings. Instead of ballad dance hopping in mid air as a result of poor position, one can establish position to challenge/block the shot. But use this feature wisely. If timed incorrectly, one can end up on a poster.

The offensive double tap is also a great idea. I have personally thought of this for some time but never took the chance to voice it. Double tapping the pro hop button would result in the player taking steps while holding strong to the ball. This allows an easier time slashing the lane as well as a reduced chance of getting the ball picked. However, one must make a decision (dunk, layup, kick it to open man) within 3 steps or risk a traveling violation. That's right, risk. For increased realism, traveling in this method can sometimes be overlooked just like in real life. This feature should only be limited to outside scorers or players with high offensive awareness, speed and dribble ratings. This would add another offensive dimention to the game and would be very realistic. Superstars can finally drive and kick it to the open man as it happens so many times in real life.

Blocking is, for the most part, about timing, so what's wrong with this?
it's actually a real cool idea, instead of blocking shots randomly we now have more in depth control in blocking shots.
