How about this Charlotte Trade

Postby I_love_math on Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:08 am

It's my first year of a Charlotte dynasty, I signed Reggie Miller and Vlade Divac as free agents. Then I traded

Sean May 66 PF/C and
Melvin Ely 64 C for

J.R. Smith 76 SG and
Arvydas Macijauskas 61 SG.

They get a younger front court, and I get a SG for when Reggie retires at the end of the year. I'll probably just trade Macijauskas for an expiring salary.

I'm hoping to keep the core of this team together (Okafor, Felton, Wallace, and Brezec) and also keep the team under or near the salary cap.

There's a very strong draft coming up, which I'll be drafting for big guys. I figure I may not resign a lot of the bench players and replace them with unsigned guys with good/excellent potential from the draft.

Thoughts on the trade or overall strategy?

2 bigs for 2 smalls is never too good since you lose rebounding and shot blocking. Maybe go out and big up a decent big with those abilities. I think you should have kept May.

My plan is to replenish my bigs with the draft. Charlotte just has absolutely no good prospects at the SG, but they already have Okafor at PF. I did like May, but I felt like if I tried to pawn off anyone else on New Orleans for J.R. Smith, I'd be ripping the computer off too much.

Yeah its always good to keep everything realistic, but good trade in my oppinion but you have to have JR work on his shot, for a 2 gaurd its not that good. But you definately have a nice young up and coming team. If you have a high enough draft pick you could definately fill the void left by May. If Jerome Moiso is still a free agent pick him up, hes a real good shotblocker.

I picked up Dale Davis for shot blocking and rebounding. My line-up now looks like

Starters:

Primo Brezec C
Emeka Okafor PF
Gerald Wallace SF
Reggie Miller SG
Raymond Felton PG

Bench:

J.R. Smith SG
Vlade Divac C
Dale Davis PF/C
Brevin Knight PG
Kareem Rush SG
Keith Bogans SG
B. Robinson SF

I simulate every game until the 4th quarter then take over. I seem to be winning too many games. I'll usually come in down 10-15 points down and still manage to pull out the win. I play on Superstar level with the sliders adjusted to make it more realistic, but I still seem to be able to win a lot of games with a team that isn't all that great. Any ideas?

do you steal a lot when you play in the 4th quarter? if so then turn the stealing down and you will have a closer game. Unless they miss a lot of shots.

I tend to play the passing lanes pretty well, and yes I get a lot of steals. I could turn down the interception slider, I guess. That's sort of aggravating though, because then the computer passes the ball straight through your man. I wish the CPU would react to players playing the passing lanes and adjust their offense instead of just having the ball go directly through the defender.

I made a lot of changes at the end of the first season. The only player I resigned was Gerald Wallace. I signed free agent Eddie Griffin, and I had a good draft. Now my line-up looks like this: (Potential is listed next to CPU created Rookies)

Starters:

B. Vuu C/70 7'5" Good
E. Okafor PF/80 6'10"
G. Wallace SF/79 6'7"
J.R. Smith SG/78 6'7"
R. Felton PG/77 6'1"

Bench:

E. Griffin PF/76 6'10"
N. Lue SG/67 6'8" Excellent
O. Mamdami SF/67 6'8" Good
P. Brezec C/66 7'1"
C. Stanton PG/65 5'11" Excellent
R. Isaaka C/63 7'3" Good
V. Divac C/67 7'1"

Injured Reserve

B. Robinson SF/61 6'6"

What do you think of the moves?

I like your team mate, you have got great height having 4 seven footers. I would sign some more players for a full roster

I'm not on a PC, maybe it would have been more realistic to leave them as Free Agents, but whatever, it's only a video game.
