hell I hope thts not so. After a team is like 5th in their Division, 12th in West, all of a sudden they win a championship, I hope it wont happen!

What the hell! EA has gone overboard this time. He didn't even play all that much last year. And the Rockets were playing horrible.
Thu Jun 22, 2006 3:56 am
Look at what he did in Orlando. Won two scoring titles, averaged 30+ PER for the season (highest since MJ).
Yeah, and he only did that because in his own words he didn't want people to "forget him".. playing for stats, what a hero.
Anyways it's not so much hate for him, it's just the fact that he did absolutely nothing this season and was injured for long stretches of it. Very very weird choice.

They probably gave him the cover because he worked almost half the season for EA Sports.
Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:19 am
Why does the coverathlete matter? Fuck it.

"NBA LIVE 07 will continue to deliver its award-winning gameplay experience to fans worldwide."

Good Joke , EA !

Possible foreshadowing, for a half-assed effort, like T-Mac previously did. Dont know if I can say it now, havent seen him play half as much ever since he went to Houston 2 years ago.
Thu Jun 22, 2006 7:12 am
Oh well, I'll be getting this game on PC anyways

, I'm a sucker to coverboys
Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:07 am
maybe him having his worst season is the actual reason he got to be the cover boy. i would think lebron or kobe or any of the other guys who are on top form in terms of performance and popularity would demand a lot more money to be the advertising figure of a video-game.
in this case a star that is coming off a rough season seems like a good choice both for a video game company whose purpose is to make the most profit and t-mac himself to regain some popularity. maybe they got the cheapest superstar they could get? dunno just my thoughts...
Thu Jun 22, 2006 10:54 am
I don't think its as much about the money.
A good explanation could be that EA had T-Mac working with them on NBA Live 06 (was in the commercial, etc). I assume it was a close one for 06 between McGrady and Wade, and Wade ultimately got it. T-Mac had a great first season in Houston and was probably 2nd candidate for 06. Since he didn't make 06, they saved him for 07.
Whatever it is, I'm glad it happened.

lol
I think I know why Tmac is doing it.
EA choose a player who already is injured to avoid the EA curse! lol

It's not unprecedented though, it's a similar situation to Vince Carter's selection for NBA Live 2004. He actually played 70+ games the following year, maybe the reverse jinx will work its magic again.

Thanks JaoSming, I've posted the link on the main page giving you credit.
According to the
PC cover screenshot, it would seem the PC version will be on DVD-ROM this year.

yah.....which is wierd cause the game the past what, 3 years?, has been on only 2 CDs...
...what is EA doing that would imply the need to use a DVD?
oh and thanks for the credit

It could simply be to eliminate the need for two DVDs, a more feasible move since DVD-ROM drives are definitely more commonplace this days. But if it's going to facilitate some improvements, great.
Thu Jun 22, 2006 3:57 pm
guess should have known it would be tmac, after all he and wade were chosen to be the player models at E3 anyways. and since wade was 06, he'd be 07

DVD - at last !
Thu Jun 22, 2006 10:31 pm
so that means we need a DVD reader right? Looks like i'll finally get to use mine for something other than illegal activities.

It was a suprising choice but he it looks alright, there could of been a lot of different cover boys, I would of put Lebron James

We better not get tiny textures again if it is on DVD-ROM. *shakes fist*
And Ibaony, I think Matt is just referring to using the DVD-Reader on his computer. He probably watches DVD's at his TV.

ok ok ok but does he have a dvd player? ok, maybe he has...
