EA sell old features as new ones ....

i really like this one in this article :

"Also aiding in the realism is the ability of animations to be interrupted halfway through so that a new animation can take place. Let’s say for instance an offensive player is breaking down a defender by utilizing a spin move. Well, if, mid-spin, they notice a player open out on the wing then the spin animation can be interrupted so that a pass can be made to hit the open man for an easy J."

A brand new feature that actually exists in previous versions (nba live 2005 for example)....

I'm sure they 're going to add an ultimate brand new feature collector :
the in-save game !!!! (it exists in nba live 2000)

i was a fan of nba live 2000, it was really adding new features, definitely the best game of the series in terms of game play...

Since then, EA only cares for the graphics, the gameplay is their last concern.... old bugs re-appears, new bugs appears for things that worked well before, features are being deleted from a version to another without explanation ... let's be clear , if you follow the series , it's a mess since live 2001...

They just seem to refond the gameplay in every version, it's incomprehensible..

Sadly you're right.

I continue to love the series, but every year there are more and more changes that make no sense, more and more bugs.... gah.

Interrupting animations isn't new to the series, no. I think they point this out because now the animations actually look decent instead of the choppy ones they've had in previous games. I'm not exactly sure how to give an example of this and I might be speaking nonsense but that's my two cents.

Well spotted. Too much style over substance is not good.

Time for my rant:

Player expression with emotion and junk?
anyone remember create-a-player in what was it, Live 2003 or 2001, hell i think 2000 had an option to say whether your player was "calm" "neutral" or "intense" with his facial expression on the court.

EA only cares for the graphics

WRONG

Live 2000 had real-time shadows dispite horrible textures.
Live 2001 with the resolution cranked and everything turned up makes my computer cry
Live 2003 had real-time shadows and amazingly detailed jersey and court textures that I've been using in my courts for 06.
Quick example
NBA Live 2003 Practice Gym and Urban court textures {512x512} (256x256}
ImageImage

NBA Live 06 Practice Gym and Urban court textures {128x128}
ImageImage

Live 2005 still had real-time shadows but lost the great textures and lighting techniques on the players while
Live 06 lost the real-time lighting.....and got the "blobs" instead...also we lost the decent net physics.

I do think there is hope though for the Live series. As long as it stays moddable and dumb people like myself continue to buy the game the second EB takes it out of their boxes to run home and start patching it, then EA will continue to be saved by their fans. I honestly havent sat down and played a dynasty until earlier this week when I "finished" with my part of the street mod. I've spent these past what, 8 months getting good at patching, making the game better and better in my point of view (arcade like) to make it playable, fun, and look good.

Every year there is always someone who says boycott this new version and lets just make, for instance, Live 2003 a really good updated version. When are we gunna listen to that person and try to force EA to listen to us bitch and complain?
Opinions are my own.

Live 2001's textures are even better than that^

Sadly if EA doesn't make the game worthy to buy... I won't buy it.

Just wondering, did EAsports realy take out mid game saves just so we have something to complain about?, or is it an unfortunate by-product of the game engine change that happened durring the "missing" year.

Oh, never mind this has already been explained, people just ignore it.

Sorry folks, 90% of all problems with Live is the current game engine, as such these problems can't(i didnt say won't, i said can't)be fixed until they switch to a new engine. At this point, a major switch like that would take 2-3 years development time, and likely add new problems as bad or worse than the current one.

But this being Bush's America and all, don't let facts get in the way of your argument.

I liked 2k6, but the only thing I hated was there was no crossover stick and I hated the shot-stick.

You can do all sorts of dribble moves with 2k6, it's just hard to get a hang of it.

I don't know how well you know your facts... Live 95 through to Live 2000 was made by the same team... Then all of a sudden they changed the entire team (which got Tim his cool job BTW) and they switched the whole makeup of the game... Up until 2000 PC was the prority and the game was ported from PC to the different consoles, but since then and especially after PC missed the entire NBA Live 2002 release, the approach has changed and now they port the console version to the PC! Which is just horrible... PC is so much more adaptable and can handle a way more complex UI that can give virtually everything and anything to the player just one click away...

For example, how much of a pain it is to set your Assistant Coach to practise with a certain player??? How many clicks is that? 5-6 clicks to get it done and another bunch to return to the main UI... Thats just sad.

I'm still saying that PC has the best parts on any playable machine out in the stores and thus it would make most sense to me to make the game for the best platform available and port it to the other platforms... It will be harder this way, but maybe you have to push a little to get some good results from the other platforms and maybe in the process you can discover that you could actually beyond all expectations do something with a platform that you didn't think was possible! And thus giving a "wowing" experience to the users of that platform...

As of today... Looking at Live 06... The game is good, but when compared to games like Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and other new products, you can just see how poorly the PC resources are used with current NBA Live games...

With the PC first approach, the game would be so much better at the moment and would certainly not look and feel like a console port!

With all that being said... I still like the game and am looking forward to the next release... And especially look forward to hearing and reading what new will be added to the game... The details have been really flimsy this year... I have a feeling that something great is in the works or they are just having great difficulty creating a dynasty mode for the next-gen consoles...

At least, we will get the next-gen version for the PC this year... At least...

Currently when you say grab a rebound and in mid air try to pass the ball....... it does go to a different animation, but it simply cuts from one to the other, thus giving an unrealistic flow of movement and a 'jump' in the animation.

What I think they mean is that all player actions will be dynamic and will blend together in a much more natural way, taking physics and weight into account.
