I cant play online because of my router. which ports do i need to open up so i can play online ?

It's in the instruction manual that came with the game, if you actually bought it in a store. :D

Then again, online play uses the default sliders and often becomes more of a blindingly fast, offensive-rebound-riddled "simulation" than I can tolerate.

I'm pretty sure it's available on the EA site, so probably not too much harm done in that scenario.
