Kobe knocks ´em down, wears the crown !

Kobe Bryant earns the trophy in a weak competition.

HOUSTON, February 16 (Ticker) ---
Kobe Bryant was able to win the Three-Point Shootout.
In a competition, where concentration and a soft touch are the most important skills, Mr. Bryant shot better than the league´s other sharpshooter.

Kirk Hinrich, the league´s best shooter if you go for stats, started, missed his first three balls and ended up with only 13 points.

Detroit´s shooter, Chauncey Billups wasn´t able to do better and also went for 13 points, he missed his last 8 shots.

J.R. Smith hit 3 money balls, but only 4 normal balls and ended up with 10.

Ray Allen, one of the favourites, put himself on the top with 14 points, but he had been better in previous contests.

Jason Kidd, a well known clutch three point man, but not really a shooter had a solid performance with 15 points.

Mike James, Toronto´s shooting star point man became 1st with 18 points and only Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant left.

Steve Nash had 16 points, showing that he is a 50% shooter at the moment.

Kobe Bryant didn´t start strong, but hit 3 money balls and went 6-of-6 with his last attempts, strong 21 points for him.

Image

Mike James didn´t show a great shooting touch, seemed to be kinda nervous and lost his rhytm ending with 10 points.

Pretty much confident Kobe started and it seemed that he knew he couldn´t miss. 23 points, 4-5 moneyballs gave him the win.

"It´s pretty cool to be the three-point champ, I mean, I was the Slam Dunk Champ, the MVP and now I am the three point man, very nice", Kobe said.

Well, Kobe is just an allrounder, Ray didn´t do that good, but he was my favourite, too.

Thx, well "Q" is a .300 shooter this year, nothing special, so I had to play it in All-Star game mode outside of my dynasty, but I analysed the 3point rankings correctly and took the right players I think.

Thank you, glad you like it !!
As I said, "Q" is nothing more than a average shooter this season, I just cant handle him right, although he is my go-to-guy very often.

It´s Sunday, the 17th of February, and were live here in Houston to present the All-Star Game.
If you take a look at the starters you might be suprised.
At first, LeBron isn´t in the roster. LeBron James injured his back vs the New York Knicks 10 days ago and is not able to play, Jamaal Magloire will make his 2nd appereance in the All-Star game instead of LBJ.
And there are 3 non-american players in the starting five for the first time.
Yao Ming, Andrei Kirilenko and Dirk Nowitzki will be in the frontcourt of the Western All-Stars.
A suprise is also that Tim Duncan has not been chosen to participate, same for Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion.
With Chris Paul we have one Rookie in the game.
But it will be hot as always with a lot of Highlight players, so let´s get it on !

For the Western All-Stars:

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Bench: M. Camby, Z. Randolph, T. McGrady, R. Allen, C. Paul, C. Anthony, R. Lewis

For the Eastern All-Stars:

Bench: J. Magloire, C. Webber, G. Hill, D. Wade, A. Jamison, J. Kidd, G. Arenas

East comes back and takes the win !

The Eastern All-Stars win 122-118 in a close match.

ImageImageImage
HOUSTON, February 17 (Ticker)---
The Eastern All-Stars defeated the Western All-Stars for the 2nd consecutive time, with the same MVP as last year.
Allen Iverson did anything he could to lift the East past the West.

The West started the game very strong and led 9-0 after 4 minutes.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 5 points and Kobe Bryant added 6.
The East got better, when Dwyane Wade and Jason Kidd entered the game.
Shaq posted 2 blocks to stabilize the defense and the East stayed competitive for the rest of the quarter.
West led 33-25.

In the 2nd quarter Gilbert Arenas showed some big plays.
He had 9 points and an assist.
Tracy McGrady did his best for the Western All-Stars to keep them in the game.
Michael Redd shot 3-6 from down town and Allen Iverson scored 6 points and for the first time the game was tied with 1:00 left to play.
But Baron Davis and Dirk Nowitzki answered with some great pick`n´roll plays to give them a 6 point lead, 64-58.

In the 3rd quarter both teams showed some real highlights.
Chris Paul, the only Rookie in the game had a long range three pointer, and Dwight Howard thundered home two big slams.
Andrei Kirilenko had 2 great blocks and Kobe Bryant scored 6 points.
But when he drove to the basket, he collided and fell on his ankle, had to leave the court.

"It´s no that bad, I can play the next games, I just didn´t want to risk anything, so I left the court", with Bryant out the East started to dominate.
Paul Pierce, who had a good allround-game scored 3 in a row and Michael Redd sank a jumper to give the East the first lead of the night.
They led by 3 points, 92-95.

But then it just happened, like it did last year and like it did happen in 2001.

The game got exciting and Allen Iverson fought to get the win.
He took one jumper after another, scoring 16 points in the last.
Some really hard drives past Yao and 3 16 footer gave the East the biggest lead of the night.
The West bounced back a little, Baron Davis, he had 12 assists, made a spectacular three-point play, but with 0:30 left the West was still behind by 2.
Iverson played it down till 0:8 on the clock before he got fouled.
He made both freethrows and the West didn´t have any timeout left.
Baron Davis got the ball, but had to take a heavily contested shot.
The East wins 118-122.

Allen Iverson got the MVP with 36 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
Michael Redd scored 23 points and Dwight Howard had 13 boards.

For the West Dirk Nowitzki had 21 points, McGrady 16, Anthony 15 and Kobe 14.
Baron Davis had 11 points and 12 assists, he was a potential MVP-candidate, but as the East won it, AI got the award.

Watch the Highlight, Music by The Pharcyde - Runnin´.
