by ShotInTheDark
Just when I thought last week's news was rife with strange reports of Kobe Bryant visiting with George Mason [LINK] and Shaquille crashing the Floridian locker room [LINK], things took a turn for the worse with Kareem Abdul Jabbar consoling UCLA's failed championship run [LINK].
And then out of the blue, now there's this:
Under a new agreement reached between television executives and the league office, the four letter network has acquired the scoop on the secret balloting for this year's MVP, and Terry Aldridge says that all signs point to King James being crowned this year's most valuable player.
"We are glad that in this closely contested competition between the league's best players, which include Shaquille O'Neal, Steve Nash, Dwyane Wade, Allen Iverson, and Lebron James" said Aldridge, "that a historical agreement has been reached with commissioner Stern to allow us the sole opportunity and responsibility of announcing this year's winner. And for the next five years--hopefully longer--we will remain the best source of sports news and information period."
Reportedly, an un-named but reliable source has said that the negotiated five year contract involves a transfer of $10 million, and a new promotional agreement for the developmental league. Less reliable sources indicate that in addition, the network has vis-a-vis purchased increased voting power with regards to the MVP and ROY awards. If this is true, it could open up a hornet's nest of controversy from fans and players alike, and frustration from other competing media outlets.
When asked about whether this move was made to increase ratings, Aldridge dodged the question, "Our network has a established tradition providing sports fans the content they desire in a timely fashion. This is just another step forward in that regard. Since this agreement was just inked, I can't give any specifics, but we will make the announcement soon, in a matter of a day or two, and the award ceremony will be followed by a one hour special to celebrate this year's winner. Please stay tuned."
Aldridge was asked to give a hint about this year's MVP ...
"I'll say this: He's young, and as we're putting together his highlight film, his colors mesh with our network's color scheme perfectly, but that's all I'll say. Certainly not purple and gold, if that's what you were asking initially. Those colors clash with the subtle hues of white, red, and gold that make our news channel one of the most elegant in television."
Asked if that means Kobe Bryant has been eliminated from competition, Terry squashed the suggestion, "I did not say that at all, so don't quote me. In fact, until just a few hours ago, Kobe was the leading contender in the MVP voting, so no, he's not eliminated entirely. But I should add that the extensive polling done in Eagle County Colorado shows that the two least popular colors among educated fans are in fact, purple and gold. And our goal is that the voting accurately reflects the wishes of the fans."
"We would like to thank the league for their cooperation and diligence in achieving consensus with such short notice. We all think this is a great thing for basketball. And we would like to thank you, the few media who were able to make this impromptu press conference--as I explained to Ted before the conference--we had planned on announcing it officially tomorrow, but someone inadvertently spilled the beans to the opposition--so here we are at this god awful hour. Anyways, good night, I don't know about you fellas, but I'm going to bed."
Nash, for his part, was booed briefly when the scoreboard big screen showed him sitting in street clothes on the bench. He smiled and waved.

If it was Rasheed Wallace or Marbury then booing is justified. I'm glad they booed Paris Hilton when they showed her on the Jumbotron. She wore a Kobe jersey but with her name at the back. What was done to that jersey shouldn't of been allowed.

She's a goddamn whore, bitch and slut. Should never be allowed into Lakers or any other NBA games. She should of been on the street offering herself instead being the prostitute she is. She's such a whore I reckon she would offer herself for a cent and I reckon still no one will take her. If she's at the playoffs I hope she doesn't jinx the Lakers and make em screw up badly. Spoilt Bitch.
I know this is a Lakers thread but I needed to get that out of my system.

She got booed and responded by saying, "Nice."
