Want to start my franchish, need a roster patch

Postby latinogroove on Sat Jun 21, 2003 9:01 am

Hello everyone,

I have not played my NBA Live 03 in many months..I just kept getting frustrated with the unrealistic gameplay...I know you all have heard this prolly 1 thousand times, but can anyone please point me to the definitive in FRANCHISE roster patch? I would like one that includes realistic salaries and player ratings and that is tweaked to improve gameplay.

Thank you all!

Z's Roster Update has realistic salaries and tweaked ratings. My roster patch (the NLSC roster update) contains both untweaked and tweaked rosters, accurate as of April 19th (beginning of the playoffs).

Andrew thanks for the info!

How do both of those roster patches fair in Franchise mode? Does one give more realistic results than the other? I know I can download yours here..where can I get Zs? Does he have a website?

Thanks

Z's roster update can also be found in the NLSC's Live 2003 Roster Updates section. It's not pinned, so you'll have to look for it on the second page of Live 2003 roster downloads. :)

The tweaked version of the NLSC roster is not suitable for Franchise play, since you'll encounter problems with the overall ratings. I have updated the DSTATS for all versions of the roster though. Going through all the players and updating their ratings is something I'll be doing this offseason.

So here are the new developments...I have played one solid game with Zs roster patch and it played well...Second game the CPU when on a rampage and after 3 quarters led 70-35. I got so sick and tired of the endless steals and fast break dunks that I turned the stupid thing off.

It's like no matter what you do, they bump you and the ball pops out..you end up charging too much...their point guard rejects your CENTER..and crap like that.

Now i'm beginning to realize why I went 4 months without playing this thing...oh well, good thing i have HH2004

Andrew, does changing ratings actually have a lot of influence? If im right i recall that theres a file which determines the stats when simulating games, now my question really is, if u change his ratings in the game, it aint gonna change his stats in simalting a season right? But does it have influence when u play a game urself?

DSTATS control simulated performance, ratings determine in-game performance. The main problem with tweaked rosters in Franchise Mode is the overall ratings, which are significant in trading and free agency. Generated rookies also tend to be better than the tweaked players.

There are some things that tweaking ratings just won't fix, so they're not always an ideal solution.

For realistic gameplay, one thing I have noticed to be very important is to call the offensive strategy of your CPU controlled team, thus their point guard won't run like crazy & drop all those 3 point bombs, (Y)

I can see how by selecting the offensive strategy for the computer can prevent the 3-point bombs, but doesn't that take the fun out of playing defense? I mean part of the NBA experience is to stop the opponent no matter what offensive strategy they throw at you. Theoritcally, these should change depending on whether or not the defense is shutting it down. Don't you think?
