DBF Editing

Postby Malfa on Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:25 pm

I just edited a players height and a little of his ratings..and saved..and then started up NBA Live and changed his secondary position and gave him a wristband so it would re-calculate but it didn't change anything. If I open the players.dbf or appearance it's still what I changed it too..but won't update in the game. This happens half the time..some times it works and some times it doesn't. Wtf!??

Which file did you modify? Was it a roster save? If so, did you make sure to re-load it once you started the game? I know it sounds like a simple step but it's one that a lot of people actually neglect. If you're editing anything in workingdb or originaldb, I'd suggest saving a roster and editing those files instead as you can easily load the changed file.

That's odd...unless of course the changes you've made happen to balance out exactly as before.

That shouldn't make a difference. Like I said, the only thing I can think of is the changes balanced out exactly as before when the overall is recalculated.

well the individual ratings are the same

and the overall would have changed

(I needed a new franchise player after Iguodala retired ;))

So you didn't actually change the individual ratings before you had the game recalculate the overall?

yes i changed the ratings (like fg,3p,dunk etctetc)

and then saved that..loaded up the game and changed his postiion/added gear to re-calculate and it still wasn not changed

but when i open up the players.dbf it says that his ratings are changed.

OK. Then the ratings probably haven't changed enough to affect the overall. That's my best guess.

Can't think of any reason why it shouldn't. Very strange.
