Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Because I'm split right down the middle between them. 2k6 has more fluid gameplay and the 24/7 Mode owns all, but NBA Live has sharper controls and awesome Dynasty features.

I like live more because you can't play 2k on a PC.

Familiarity and the fact it has a PC version. I have had a look at 2K6 and while I like what they've done with Association Mode and the Practice Modes, I ultimately still prefer NBA Live.

If you play 2k6 and choose the hall of fame mode without adjusting the slider, you might suffer a concussion. It was sick as the computer is better at shooting the long range shot rather than the closer shot.

Live06 i don't like it this year coz i play it on ps2 and the graphics suck. The players look like cartoons and the movements are stiff. I'm more on the visual side so i prefer 2k6 for console.

I actually felt it was the other way around in terms of graphics, but I mostly play the PC version of Live so it might not be a fair comparison.

I own both 2k6(PS2) and Live(PC). To be honest, I haven't played 2k6 in at least 2-3 months. In 2k6, you definately get more realistic numbers per game but it's not as smooth as Live, in Live you can pull a fast break 3, but in 2k6 your player will run a few steps past the 3pt line causing a long 2. Also the dunks in 2k6 are really...boring and have animation problems. A lot of times when you dunk with big men, they will go way past the hoop then magically slide back and dunk it. I think the Alley-oops in 2k6 are insane though, Live should have off the backboard alley-oops. I also like the shot-stick to a degree and I like how 2k6 tracks how you play, and your perfect/good/poor release percentages. I don't like the graphics in 2k6 because they are really bad during gameplay and when they zoom in the players look too shiny. The aspect that I don't like about Live is the cheapness of the CPU, 2k6 did a pretty good job of keeping the CPU in check by not having an insane comeback code. 2k6 also has some of the smaller details that the lazy bastards at EA don't put in, like UP TO DATE PLAYER POTRAITS. EA won't even change them after a player has changed teams like 3 times in the past 2 seasons. 2k6 also has FT rituals.

I really like how NBA Live lends itself to the TNT setting. NBA on TNT is much better than NBA on ESPN, and the graphics, at least if you compare xbox 360 and PC on NBA Live are much better than 2k. The sweat on 2k is pretty lame and the dunks they pull off are not realistic at all. 2k is great fun as far as arcade style play with your friends go, but if you want a true realistic experience, look no further than live 06.

The half time recap and game recap does make 2k much better than live in game summary regards, but i cannot stand the play by play commentary in 2k. As far as play by play announcement goes, you litterally cannot beat marv albert, though Kevin Collabroe is damn good too. I like ernie johnson doing the allstar weekend, because that brings in even MORE TNT, and of course the FSS ablities are great. The 1on1 career is kinda neat in 2k, and franchise mode has some interesting features that nba live lacks, like chemestry and such, but i feel overall nba live has the better options as trading and signing are more realistic, and you have the ability to coach on specific aspects, and hire your staff and such, as well as scout for the draft.

In summation, live is better than 2k because it has more features. Its massive upsides, such as FSS and realistic gameplay, make up for the nice extras that it lacks that 2k has, such as team chemestry, 1 on 1 career mode, and game summaries.

WHAT????? i hope you didn't write that yourself.

did you make all that up? live's dunks are totally unrealistic. then you contradict how you said 2k6 is unrealistic with chemistry and such. chemistry is more realistic than live's.

and trading is more realistic in live? dude, stop snorting coke. you can't trade draft picks, you can trade keith van horn for chris paul if NOK wanted a PF, it's totally unrealistic.

and then you say live has more features that make up for 2k6's extras.

i'm assuming that was a satiric paragraph, because if you meant all that garbage, you're about as smart as sam cassell is beautiful.

PHX4LIFE, I strongly suggest you be a little more open minded about other people's opinions and a lot less confrontational; you've got a habit of belittling other people's opinions and throwing about insults and while we've cut you some slack so far, it's getting to the point where you're just spamming and insulting other posters, and it won't be tolerated for much longer.

i like 2k6 more (not 2k more than Live, just 2k6 over Live 06) because of the depth and realism-it also has more than 1 good mode (Y)

I haven't played 2k6 but I've been playing Live for so long that it's takes quite a lot to switch my preference. I played 2k3 though and it sucked big time, while Live 2003 was the greatest fast break basketball game ever (Y)

If the 2K series started coming out for PC, I'd never play Live again. It's that simple...

live just feels better. It's more fun, the menus are far more clear and accessible, the gameplay doesn't give you a headache unlike the stiff, jaunty 2k6 with its glaring unrealistic bright shininess (the headache factor) and robotic actions. Not to mention a playable dynasty mode instead of the cluttered mess of 2k.

That looks to me like you're actually describing the benefits of 2K6 over Live, to be honest. Live's menus are excessively huge and annoying to navigate though, with unbearably unrealistic animations (to the point where we're editing the aiact out of necessity). 2K6 is far more fluid; you can actually run a realistic fast break. You put that game on PC with the patchers we have here, and it blows the Live series into oblivion.

Other than presentation and slighlty better graphics I just don't think 2k6 is a better playing game than Live. They both needed major tweaks and after using sliders for both games I felt Live 06 played the best game of basketball. Then after using playbooks in Live created by Playmakers the gameplay became even more exciting. In 2k6 the big men hardly ever get the ball and SG's or SF's dominate the offense for all teams. I still play both games but Live is where I've enjoyed the most fun gameplay wise.

I stand by my statement and i dont think your brutish and barbaric bashes on my statements will gain your opinion any respect on this matter. I said there were good and bad things about the live and 2k series, but that the good things in live far outweighed the good things in the 2k series. I feel the dunks arent realistic because you're able to pull of windmill jams in traffic regardless of who you are, in live, only a FSS Highflyer can do that.

I said team chemestry was a great feature, and i wished it was implemented in live but its not and i feel that the nice live dynasty features.

You can trade draftpicks in live, i'm not sure where you were coming from with that one, and you cannot trade keith van horn for chris paul unless your team had the available cap space to handle keith van horns 10 million dollar contract in comparrison to chris paul's 2 million dollar contract. If you could trade him in live, you DEFINITLY could trade him in the 2k series.

On top of that, as far as the xbox 360 and pc versions go, the graphics are just miles ahead of the 2k series.

Live has more control over what dribble moves you do with the right analog.

Live has a PC version.

Live just seems to be all around better other then a few things that 2k6 may have on it.

I like 2k6 don't get me wrong. I even play it every now and then when the same ol moves and dunks of Live become repeditive.

I don't play it to long untill I hear Live callin me. "they callin me' - YEEAAAUUHH

On xbox I don't like 2k6 because it seems like the game was made for a wider screen tv. All of the players seem to tall and skinny. "i dunno maybe its just me, you decide"

Yet when you use a wide screen format they look more like the Live players.

Both games are good. I am use to Live and I will not change over because of one or two things.

Live should be shaping up soon to deal with the competition now that it actually has some...

live 06 [not the 360 version] IMO is the best bball sim yet.

more intiutive gameplay, the controls feel natural, the freestyle moves and animations all feel natural,
nba 2k6's shots stick is pretty good but needs tweaking, it isnt intiutive enough.

with slider and player edit adjustments live played the best sim ball i have ever played and i have been playing nba games for over 12 years now.
2k6 plays well but with slider adjustments and player edits it didnt much improve. too easy to score inside. lacks offensive/defensive balance, where i had live playing awesome tough defensive ball where it was a real challenge to score inside unless u were wade, or kobe or james etc. which is obvious anyway.

lives player models are superior. 2ks are too fat or rounded. they looked more like wrestlers than slimlined ballers.

2ks presentation is better no doubt. great halftime highlights and ingame replays, statisticall updates etc are awesome.

i dotn play dynasty or franchise [only season] and i find both systems are flawed and too clunky.

all star weekend and 24/7 even out although IMO allstar weekend is the better option, [again. i dont play these features]

the only customisation feature that 2k has over live is the create a team. in every other aspect live destroys 2k.
much better and deeper create a player, better and more effective sliders, and u have the option of adjusting other teams rosters in season and games so u can make the game play more realistically [this is a must for hardcore nba fantatics] i could not stand the fact that i had no control over what the cpu did to its rosters and lineups and strategies in season and mid game as the cpu never gets it right.

the 360 version however has none of these good points. 2k6 360 which is a port is the better option

ironically. if nbalive 360 was a port of the xbox version instead of a rushed and unbalanced attempt at a true next gen game, it would be more succesfull.
