360 live 06 disscussion.

i am getting a 360 and this is the first game i am getting. i know the reviews have been mediocre and i dont want 2k6, i had it on the xbox and took it back.
but i want to hear from all u live 06ers on the 360. is it deserving of the hammering its been recieveing or does it play a mean game of sim ball.
thats what i am after. a real sim. i dont care for allstar weekends and franchises. i like to mimic hte real nba with rosters etc. i only play seasons with nba game.
so whats it really like guys.
some details would be great.

Live 06 was the first game I got for the 360
first off the graphics are really amazing
the gameplay is O.K.
terrible camera views
missed lay ups (sliders wont fix it)
beatiful net animations

If you are true Nba Live fan then you would like this title
p.s. Nba 2k6 on Xbox 360 is waaaaaaaay better than Nba 2k6 on Xbox

I'm getting a 360 in May and plan to use this information.

Most guy's playing the 360 version are using Playmakers sliders and playbooks. He also re-rated all the all players because apparently the ratings is what messed up some aspects of the gameplay. Here's two links from some of the work playmakers did to fix most of the game. They really did a good job of breaking down this game so you'll have to read through some of this to understand what they are doing.

thanks for that. i am a real nba video game nutter.
i always edit every player in the games to make it more realisitc. the developers are always way off in this aspect IMO and as its my hobby. its what i do anyway. but i will certainly be usign these links. thanks.
please the more information and opinions the better.

are the camera angles that bad. really. i have heard a lot of negative things about it. whats the best angle.

I've had the 360 version for about 4 months. It doesn't play aswell right out the box without sliders, playbooks and player edits.

The cameras are kinda frustrating but there are possibly 1-2 angles that might be solid. I use the Press Box view with Height at 10 and Zoom at 6.

It does take some extensive tweaking with player ratings or else no matter what you do with the sliders it won't play that good overall.

I have a pretty good breakdown of the game and edits over at another forum (OS). There's plenty of information I posted about the 360 game so if you free time just check it out.

Live for xbox 360 is the best live out. Everyone that i know that has played it loves it and im the only one of my friends with one yet they cant even play the ps2 version or xbox version now that they have had a taste of the 360 version. There are just alot of little things that were done that just make the game good.

Some of the great things such as being in the game all the time is something i think gets over looked. once you get a hang of the game their is no reason to pause the game for substitions or strategy changes. At first you'll also probably miss alot of layups but once you learn the spots and how to use the lanes layups be missed wont be a problem.

My next step was to adjust ratings for the players because the messing with sliders only got frustrating. I just never took the time to mess with it. I'm gonna give it one final thorough attempt using your suggestions Playmakers and see what I end up with.

I recently played nba live 06 on the XBOX360 at my local electronics store and found it to be very disappointing.
The games seems to play like NBA live 2004/2005... dribbles moves are the same. It's as if they tweaked 2004 thats why there is no Freestyle superstars. They've also taken out things that make the game great.... eg. Dynasty Mode.

Until they make the game exactly as what i get on the PC including all the new features that are currently only on the xbox360 then i will not buy the game, no matter how much sweat comes out of Dwayne Wades body.

does anybody find that the framerate is extremely LOW ?
even when Wade practise on his own, let alone playing 5on5.

Everytime the player try to attack the basket, the framerate drops ! Everytime the player dribble to the frontcourt, the framerate drops !

actually the game is unplayable due to the low framerate even though it's graphics are excellent...

i got it. but i am not impressed with the AI.
i have used playmakers sliders and adjusted some of the team playbooks. and it doesnt seem to stop the ai from being idiots.
all the cpu does is run up court make one pass mainly to the swingmen then they hoik it up. regardless of double teams or whatnot. its stupid. there is no teamwork. plays are not run. its very annoying.
posey is lighting it up for the heat while shaq does nothing.
bowen seems to be the star of the spurs..lol

playmaker. how can i stop this. i want teams to play a more halfcourt pass it aound. even with fastbreak sliders dropped to the lowest. it makes not diff.

That's why I said you have to do all three things.

1)Sliders
2)Playbooks
3)Global Ratings

The defensive ratings are toatlly unbalanced and way too many guy's are in the low 30-40's.

The offensive ratings and 3-Pt ratings are too high and forcing the CPU players to jack up quick shots outside the 3-pt line all game. I basically Manipulated the CPU into using their top players more often offensively by lowering the offensive awareness of most of the other players on the team. I left only 2-3 guy's per team at a higher rating and it kinda tricks the CPU into getting the ball into the hands of those players more often. The 360 version doesn't have Primacy rating so you have to use the Offensive Awareness rating as a diversion.

The 3-pt rating has to be reduced or else you'll see guy's like Posey launching them all game. The reduction in 3-pt rating forces them to drive more or look to take more mid range jumpers.

Sliders and Playbooks alone won't get it done like it does for the PS2 or XBOX Live. The ratings severly hamper the game and forces it into a more offensive minded type game. That's why you have to boost up the defensive awareness significantly and lower offensive awareness for all players.

i lowered the 3pt and mid range sliders and it helped somewhat. but no way near good or realisitic enough.
i call it the "bruce bowen flaw." nearly every bball videogame has had it. where the pf and C's basically become spectators regardless of rating or stature. and players who are low in off awareness and fgs still jack up shots and score because of their position.
this is inexcusable in the next generation. why cant the cpu use its playbooks properly and its players. the only time pf's or Cs will score will be in the post. with post moves. hardly ever will they take a jumper or spot up etc. whether its brand or nowitzki or kg. doesnt matter.
i played a game against the 76ers and webber took 3 shots!!! and he hardly touched the ball.
changing the playbooks hasnt seemed to change anything. the cpu still only really passes between the swingmen.
this has to change for next year. there is no exuse for this. if the xbox version can do it adequatley. how can the 360 version not. its a step backwards.

any way to get the t/o count up. the cpu hardly turns over and i havent been able to intercept passes like i coudl in live. the ball always gets to its target. even using the hands up freestyle D move that worked awesomely in xbox 06.

I guess you could boost up the INT Slider and see if that helps out more. Also, on the Playbooks hopefully your taking the QUICK Plays for every team and putting those plays as the bottom 3 plays not the top 3 plays in the playbooks.

Your basically flipping the Playbook from top to bottom. The only shooting ratings I lowered on the players were their 3-PT ratings. I didn't touch FG rating. I only left 2-3 players on each team with a very high offensive awareness because it helped to get most other players pass up shots.

Also, lowering the sliders for 3-PT or Mid Range isn't going to stop them from taking the shot. It's the ratings that helps them to pass up 3's not the sliders.

after playing few days of Live 360 version, I think that this is only a revamped version of NBA Live 2005 (or 2004) but not 06.

The 06 PC version I've played fixed most of the problem in the gameplay (esp. CPU's offensive strategy)

Since the 360 version doesn't have the superstar freestyle nor the new play calling system, even it shares the same commentaries and soundtracks, I believe that it was developed in parallel with the other versions.

I am a bit dissapointed with the 360 version, however, I do believe the next version, with the ESPN licence, will be an in-depth and excellent bball game ever.

Really looking forward to play Dynasty mode on my xbox ~~

u are right. it is just a revamped 05. it shares the same gameplay AI faults. ie. poor cpu playmaking. swingmen hoggin the ball. big guys getting little touches.
what dissapoints me is live 06 fixed all that on the xbox. and that hands up animation [up on freestyle on D] actually had a practical use. where in the 360 version it has none. it doesnt prohibit inlet passing, it doesnt pick off passes as the animation automatically stops once the ball is passed. [wf is with that].
i am goign to drop the 3pt and awareness even more like u said playmakers. its annoying though as some of the these players i must drop can really drain 3's.
it frustrates me no end that the cpu can play so nobheaded. those stupid pullup 3;s or long js when forward/centers are wide open. again. 06 didnt have this. in 06 xbox, the cpu wasnt a ball hogging crazy shooting nob. it set plays etc....
cmon ea. this is inexcusable. this is next gen. it shoudl be the best playing live ever.

I played NBA 2k6 on XBOX 360 and trust me when I tell you it's 50x better than live on 360 is.

i will be. i have had it with the 360 version. the straw was playing against the spurs with revised and edited stats to compensate for the games natural inclination to score with the swingmen, and playmakers sliders and playbooks, and i won,. but so what. the game was a mess of basketball. bowen lead the spurs with 21pts and 17 shots. and he was throwin up some crap. theuy all were while duncan is standing around only getting pts when he gets the board or gets the odd post inlet.

i purchased 2k6 for the xbox and was underwelmed. like06 on the xbox played great. i had it edited to do great tough AI play where the cpu actucally looked for its stars first. it blowsme away to think that when i purchased a 360 that live would have better AI and improved gameplay. but it was released rushed and broken.
u cant intercept passes. there is no feeling of D. U are helpless when it comes to stopping the cpu from gunning stupid shots and missing badly.
its damn annoying. how can u go backwards in gameplay when u have a next generation console?

I really want to try 2k6 on my xbox360, however, I live in hong kong and the console doesn't support games other than Asian region code. And apparently the 2k will not be released as Asian region as usual...

i took it back and am now waiting for 2k to be released here [australia]. unbelievable how bad distribution is here. this game is months old and all it needs is a pal conversion. every year the 2k series comes out months later. it pathetic.
any way. i cant begin to describe how dissapointed i was with live 06 [360]. considering i think on the xbox it was the best bball game i have played yet. how could they get the AI so wrong in the 360 version.
it plays fine and dandy when u have the ball or against a human opponent. but the AI is so stupid and unrealisitc and broken. regardless of attribute tinkering or sliders etc....
bowen takes the most shots for the spurs. parker whose 3pt attribute was 35 took 10 3's in a agame. it doenst seem to matter what u do or what the ratings are. the cpu plays hte same way regardless. all the cpu does is pass it around to its wingmen and shooting guard and they hoik up shots regardless of double teams or not, even if kg or duncan are wide open inside. its infuriating. and unplayable for me as all i do is play against the cpu.
i have played the xbox version of 2k6. so know what i am getting. IMO. live 06 [xbox] is the superior game, but i sold my xbox for the 360 so i have no choice but to get 2k6. bball video games has been my hardcore hobby for over 12 years. i cant go without it.
EA better get it right in 07.
i dotn care about the bells and whistles and all star weekend etc. i want a ball game that plays properly. where the stars get utilized. where the teams run plays and play realisitically. where its balanced on both sides of the court.
dissapointed.

I bought NBA Live 06 for the 360 the first day the 360 was released. I played the game for about 2 weeks and haven't touched it ever since. I am a hard core NBA Live gamer and this is the first time that I refuse to play Live. The game is just flat out horrible. I was in denial for a while but the truth shall set you free. I was almost tempted to sell the game but out of the love I got for NBA LIVE I just let it sit there and collect dust. I'm patiently waiting for 07 to drop.

well well well.... i took live back as i said. yet a week later. i buy it again.
i cant function without an nba video game. nba2k6 isnt out for another 10 days odd in australia and i know it will drive me nuts too as u cannot adjust other teams lineups, strategies etc in game or in season. i know the gameplay is better, but i need to be able to control all teams rosters as the cpu never gets it right. and i cant stand the fact that u cant edit positions.

have played 2 games since i repurchased it and have lost both games badly and cpu still hogs it with the swingmen while the big guys act like treestumps. the gameplay is unbalanced. there are hardly any t/os in the game and i have put the steal and interception sliders in the 60's.
[playmakers, have u worked out a way around this issue] i see the cpu intercept but i cant. how do u intercept passes in this game. the ball always gets through even though u know where its going. i have tried the hands in the air [up on analogue] which worked well in xbox version. i have tried anticipating with the steal button, i have tried just being directly in front of the player recieving the pass. how do u intercept.

i noticed when i watched a bit of a blazers/memphis game that randolf gets lots of touches. which is good. i assume this is because other than juan dixon. there are no shooters in the blazers so the cpu logically looks for randolf. if only the cpu could logically look for the teams best player if they are bigs on other teams. it seems the only way to get the post guys that should be no 1 options involved is to drop the scoring stats of their perimiter team mates.

playmakers. any more advice on getting this game to play better would be appreciated. i have adjusted the attributes of every player like i do every nba vid game, and used your playbooks and sliders. thanks for your efforts

this game is bad. really bad.
i have given it every chance possible. i want to take it back.....again. but i need nba sims to play. its my no 1 hobby. the 360 has jibbed me in this regard. i could go 2k6. but that has ai faults and limited customisation options too. why couldtn ea just port the xbox version of live. it was sooooo much more superior. the 360 version is awful.

i have played the guts out of it this weekend and its the same story every game. it doesnt matter what team, the AI plays teh same regardless. [i am a broken record here but its so frustrating]. i just beat the magic and deshawn stevenson took TWICE as many shots 9/25fgs than all the magics pf's/Cs combined. dwight howard was 2/7fgs.
this game is broken. if the cpu doesnt score from stupid fastbreaks, they throw up crazy shots with their swingmen in halfcourt.
i dont even mark the pf's C's anymore as there is no point. they hardly get the ball, but even then. its hard to stop the swingmen from scoring as the passing system is broken too.
if i wasnt such an nba nut, i would burn this game.

i am afraid playmakers. that your changes have made no difference to the experience to me. the cpu doenst run the plays. u can see the motions being done, but the play is never executed. duncan can have position right under the hoop but the cpu will still pass it to bowen for a crazy shot... its ridiculous.
this would have to be the worst playing and most broken bball game ihave played in years. and it should be the best.

i just got 360 and live is SOOOOOO sick!! one problem, does anybody know how do i shoot freethrows?? because i only saw the aiming arrow thing once, and never saw it again ever.. can someone please tell me...

P.S. to all you complaining about the FSSS/gameplay or whatever, i think you just have to get use to the game a little bit. besides, that FSSS just make you abuse them.
