I looked at current overall rating and quality of the youth on the team for dynasty. Here's my opinions
best
1. Phoenix - With Stoudemire, Marion, Diaw, Barbosa, Jones and more, this team has the cornerstones in place to be very good in the future. And with Nash at the helm for now, they are good in the present too.
2. Cleveland - James has a million years left at the 99 rating it seems. They also have a pretty good supporting group with only a couple players like marshall and ilgauskas who have peaked.
3. Orlando - Big dwight isn't going anywhere but up. Darko, Ariza, Nelson, all interesting pieces.
4. Toronto - One word: Bosh. Charlie V ain't bad either.
5. Portland - with guys like telfair, webster, miles, randolph this team can be together for years to come.
Also good: Denver, New Orleans, Charlotte, Atlanta, GSW, Boston
The top 2 are distinguished by already being quite good.
Worst 5, or as I see it, most challenging and interesting:
1. Minnesota - KG is in year 11 and no really great young player exists. The Joe Smith draft deal hurt them.
2. New York - The talent is there on paper, but the cap is absurd.
3. Lakers - Kobe and thinness.
4. Philly - AI and Webb aren't the new kids on the block, so when can they actually win a title? The bench is thin, iguodala and maybe dalembert are the only real pieces for tomorrow. Korver is alright, but the team needs new stars in the draft.
5. Seattle - Not that bad, but like philly they aren't winning now and don't have much for the future besides ridnour and those big projects swift and petro.
Also challenging: Memphis, New jersey, Sacramento, Utah
Teams like SAN, DET, MIA and DAL aren't on here because they are great now and have some future, but also have an investments in veterans.
Milwaukee lacks a future superstar but has young role players. Indiana is decent, but where's the cornerstone to a title?
