offensive rebounds! enough is enough

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

offensive rebounds! enough is enough

Postby theenemy on Mon Jan 30, 2006 3:14 am

I am new in the forum (first post) but i am not new to the live series. I played every single game of the series and I was never this dissappointing !! My problem is the offensive rebounds. I play live06 with the adjusted sliders (I tried some of them) I use the playbooks and all but when your opponents make 10 offensive rebounds in a quarter (all are missed shots) I cannot play the game anymore. This is a serious bug!! It kills the enthusiasm to play... I hate it. I have three sometimes four guys jumping to get the def reb. and the ball passes through their hands! Hold the damn ball for god sakes! EA has to do something about it.
anyone found a solution to that ??? adjusting the off.reb slider to zero and def reb to 100 is not enough. Something has to be done...

Well there's no real workaround or bugfix for that and if EA won't release a patch i fear there's not much players can do as this is afaik hardcoded.

stop your bitching and start playing well

if you time your jump, and you are in good position, you will get the rebound.

Offensive rebounds aren't hard to stop. Tyson Chandler pulls down about 10-15 boards a game for me because I dont go for every single block. Everytime you try to use your C or PF to come help try to block a shot, you leave someone free under the boards to rebound. So if you try to block every shot you're gonna give up a lot of rebounds.

Yeah I was about to say what MrShock said, if you attempt the block with your CEnter, that leaves their Center and Power Forward rebounding against your Power forward or sometimes even your defence switches and your Point guard is defending your Power Forward, so don't complain cos Iverson's gonna get fucked if he goes against Duncan and Ming....

That might have been a little harsh...

But to the poster, I think people are being hostile, for lack of a better term, because there have been numerous posts in the past regarding offensive rebounding with no liable solution. I guess for now we'll just have to live with it, and hope 07 has a different problem.

Back on topic: Sometimes CPU offensive rebounding can be a real pain in the ass. Sometimes there is just no way of stopping ORs. But if you compare that to real life, it's not that disappointing anymore. Imagine a guy like Shaq, who gives up rebound after rebound to a guy like Elton Brand, who is a LOT smaller and doesn't nearly weigh as much. Imagine a 6'7 guy like Dennis Rodman grabbing 18rpg. It's not really unfair, it's just the way basketball works. You'll still get enough rebounds. And with a little practice, you can keep the frustration to a minimum.

I played a few games with computer offensive rebounding at 100 and they only got around 3 per quarter. I think it IS backwards!

I don't have this problem at all. Maybe it depends on who you're using to rebound. Shaq and Mourning led the league in OR for my Heat Dynasty. Shaq averaged 5 a game on 7 minute quarters. I did set the opponents OR slider to 35 but that only makes it realistic, Playing against the Pistons is the toughest on the rebounding department.
Play On.
