Steven E. Smith: “I heard he once did 25 shots of Jim Beam in one sitting. Quite an amazing effort if you ask me. He should fit in well with the other Blazers then. Haha.”

Great coverage, how in the world do you have so much patience to do all that typing?

Fri Mar 17, 2006 2:59 pm

Anyways, Andrew.. I will help u calculate this stuff after my journalism essay is written! That will prob be tomoz tho. Hope thats not too bad?

Also... Mark going to Boston, thats a damn steal for the Celts. And Lemarcus to the Clippers... maybe its their lucky year and they will make the postseason!

Good work with ur picks! Although, u shoulda picked me ahead of Steve! And geebers... u had to draft urslef didnt u? :)

Oh yeh, how am i looking in terms of starting for the pacers?

Fri Mar 17, 2006 5:00 pm

Very, very nice draft coverage (Y) (Y)

good to see Andrew Watson the Blazers, but I would've gone with LaMarcus > Harding.. but your choice..

I think the Hawks won the most, Ronnie Brewer :headbang:

Fri Mar 17, 2006 5:42 pm

Love the draft coverage! (Y) Congrats on getting drafted...any plans to make a bid for ROY? :)

as the old adage goes, "With great power comes great responsibility"....

as for what Smith said, he wasn't lying

yep, the irony is that you said the Pacers needed you but you didn't put yourself in the lottery

Mark. wrote:Whoa I sunk like a stone, oh well i shud get some time in Boston, its time to prove all the teams that overlooked me wrong.

yep, I was shocked you fell that far....especially considering your overall rating is the same as some of the late lottery picks & 3pts better than The X  the irony was that you had the C's taking yourself in the 1st Round, but they ended up taking you in the 2nd Round  at least you'll get to sit on the pine next to Gerald Green

as for who I should have picked, yep, I probably should have picked Aldridge, but I think part of me wanted some genome player for some reason, memories of Live '04 I guess....I probably should have drafted Aldridge & traded for Harding....ahh well, I don't care....Blazers can stink it up in the future

Jing wrote:lol. stay in school. i'll get my degreein 4 years!

yep, I thought you would rise but you fell....always have to tie in some sort of storyline....purely for realism of course

cheers Sit, no huge rush....yep, Celtics got a steal, as did Clippers....& there was no way I would have picked you before Severin

as for picking myself, judging by my overall ratings, if I hadn't of picked myself I could have fallen out of the 2nd Round....I wasn't going to risk that....I honestly thought I would be snapped up in the late 1st Round, but I slid....guess I overrated myself

as for where you figure in for the Pacers, will let you & all other NLSC-ers know when I check....I know that my brother has somehow got the starting PG spot in Washington & the CPU has slid Arenas to SG....I was like  my brother, the 2nd Rder, is starting :o

cheers, yep, most people would have taken LaMarcus over Severin....part of me felt like EA was screwing up & that with the 6th pick I didn't deserve him....I know it's stupid, but it did cross my mind....I weighed up the draft decision for like a good 5 minutes, & in the end I followed my gut instinct....Harding's workout was better than Aldridge....that's what it came down to....as I said before the draft, I knew people would drill me for the decision, just like Steven E. Smith (Stephen A. Smith's stunt double) did

yep, Hawks got a huge steal in Brewer, that's for sure....then they got Rudy Fernandez in the 2nd Round....was a good draft for them....

Andrew wrote:Love the draft coverage! (Y) Congrats on getting drafted...any plans to make a bid for ROY? :)

cheers Andrew....glad you enjoyed :P I let my own team bail me out  I'll have to earn my PT the hard way though....as for bids for ROY, neither of those guys are in for a shot....if you mentioned All-2nd Rookie Team, then there's a chance....you can never tell these things....I don't go out to get my guys awards....it's all about winning first :P

Fri Mar 17, 2006 10:12 pm

Good work for your bro! Lucky break getting that starting spot! haha The AI must be different this year then! Hope the pacers recognise and play me at PG! (Y) Oh btw, is Artest still on my team?

Yeh no worries bud, i will calculate the scores for ya!

That's the way to go. (Y) I admire the restraint though, if I added myself I'm not sure I couldn't hold back from getting some decent PT. ;)

Fri Mar 17, 2006 10:20 pm

Only the retard Pacers would want someone like Sit  .

Excellent work X. This looks like it woulda taken aaaaaaaaages!! Did you call in sick the past couple days. Actually, no you couldnt have, you just got your new job. Hang on, like that would stop you from calling in sick :P .

Fri Mar 17, 2006 10:24 pm

haha hey mac.. i think i actually fit in with this team! a bunch of head cases!

cheers, I got another believer....don't worry, I'm no Larry Brown when it comes to playing rookies....if they show they can play, they play....I try to find out how they will fit in my team, whereas a lot of people start them straight away....I like to keep some realm of realism alive, even if it is stupid

cheers, didn't I say it would take a while  fortunately I am resourceful & I used a template from my Bobcats' dynasty to cut the time down by 3 or 4 times

as for the job, I start Monday week, & no, I would not call in sick, nor have I ever called in sick to update my dynasty  if you were talking about watching the NBA Draft, well that's a completely different matter

Sit wrote:haha hey mac.. i think i actually fit in with this team! a bunch of head cases!

yep, you're actually a lightweight in that department when compared to the likes of Ron Artest & Stephen Jackson....I'd put you closer to Austin Croshere than those 2  then again, I think Scot Pollard is perfect role model for you

Fri Mar 17, 2006 10:36 pm

Cant dis Jermaine! That was a killer punch back in the basketbrawl! (Y)

I know where you're coming from though. I just did the same thing with Chandler in his first game back after missing 8 games with a wrist injury. I had him come off the bench even though he was my starter for the first 12 games and has been averaging a double-double. Noce and Deng have been working too well as a frontcourt and since my strategy has changed a bit while he's been out, I wanted to see how well he fitted into everything. He'll probably be back in the starting five soon though.

The simple/video game thing to do would've been to bring him straight back into the starting five because of his overall rating. ;)

the simple/video game thing for me to do was draft LaMarcus Aldridge & trade him for Harding, but you see teams reach for players they really like IRL, & for once I felt like doing the same....I didn't feel like drafting a player for the higher rating & then trading him for the other guy + a bag of potato chips

and besides, Nocioni is great, I can understand you wanting to keep him in the lineup for as long as possible

Fri Mar 17, 2006 10:53 pm

Well that's the other thing, there are limitations in the game and sometimes you've got to do seemingly unrealistic things to achieve realistic situations...especially since there's no draft day trades.

too true Andrew, too true....I always like the Matrix saying "Ignorance is Bliss' :P

cheers, it took a little while, did it bit by bit....

as for Severin Harding's potential nicknames, don't have any at the moment....will see how he goes....don't want to go through severe headaches over that one, nor do we want to see any severed whatevers....as you can see, working with his name, won't be too easy....I've picked myself a challenge

I'm always open for suggestions

Does Severin look like That Guy by any chance?

 nah, not really....they both look kinda generic, but nah, not identical....that would be a bit too freaky

2006 OFF-SEASON COVERAGE

FREE AGENCY SIGNING PERIOD

Well, with the draft completed it's time to move onto the free agency signing period. Unfortunately I am just over the cap & my roster is completely full so I will not be signing any free agents. Not that there is much out there, as can be seen by the Top 5 Free Agents available.

Image

The top 3 would be the only free agents of real value on the market, & Bonzi has already had one stint in Portland & is not welcome back. However it wouldn't take those top 3 long to be snapped up, as Wells got a long-term deal with the Chicago Bulls.

Image

Otherwise, it was a pretty uneventful free agency period with all the big guns having already re-signed with their respective teams.

Check out below for full transactions for the month of July 2006

That is how the free agency period panned out. The trade period summary will follow later today....

enjoy
