Appearance Editing in Dynasty-help!

Postby Ashman23 on Fri Mar 10, 2006 7:44 am

Hi,
Can anyone help me with editing a player in dynasty mode. I'm sick of these 5'10" rookies turning up all the time. I've gone into appearance.dbf and changed height (even weight and colour for some other players etc.) the details save without any problems. I've changed players.dbf so that ISGENERATED to False, ISCREATED to False but the player never changes and his details ie Height details stay the same even though appearance.dbf clearly has changed, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

You should be able to change the height simply by editing that field, but there shouldn't be any reason to change the ISGENERATED/ISCREATED fields.

Thanks, I'll keep on trying. What about colour and body shape, should I leave players.dbf as is?

I think I'm just dumb, I found the appearance.dbf guide on the NBA Live 06 subsite and realized I've been choosing the wrong colour, body sizes etc.

Nope, didn't work . I just changed a player's to skin colour to match his head colour (I change my rookies to be real players as I'm sick of Marv saying 'number blah blah', and have ended up with black guys heads on white guys bodies). But the change didn't take place. I also tried changing his body size to test the theory. What am I doing wrong, I've matched the playerid number with that in appearance.dbf and changed both 'listings' of that player.

For created/generated players if you're just changing their skin colour, you won't change the colour of their faces.

Yeah I get that, but what if my guy has a light brown face but his body is darker? I've choosen a rookie to make him into Troy Hudson (I'm sick of Marv saying 'player XX') so I make all the rookies I draft into an actual player (usually from the Free agent list). I just can't change my guy into being the right colour. To test the theory I also tried changing a couple of players on a different team. They had a 6'1" centre and a 7'1" point guard, I went into appearance and their details were actually correct ie small PG and tall C. So I tried changing them slightly bigger or smaller to see if they would change but nothing happened. I've just thought that I will just change my rookies into a player with the right body colour etc. but where's the fun in that.

Have you changed his FACEID to -1 once you gave him Troy Hudson's cyberface?

Yeah, I've done that........I think it just won't work, I've changed ISCREATED to True, made the changes and then changed ISCREATED to false again and nothing happened, then I went back in and changed ISCREATED to True, went into the game and tried edit player, the bar at the bottom went halfway and stopped, so it's like the game is recognizing something but it causes the game to hang. Look, thanks for the help. I'll keep trying and post what I've tried, maybe I will work it out. I just know it should be easy.
