Player lock questions about freestyle superstar and primacy

Postby Grayson73 on Fri Feb 03, 2006 2:27 am

I play with player lock on.

Does primacy affect how often the CPU controlled players will take a shot?

Does the freestyle superstar enablement affect how the CPU controlled player play?

Does the freestyle superstar enablement affect how my player plays if I only use the shoot, pass, dunk, and block buttons?

Lastly, is there a thread that describes what each freestyle superstar does and which are better (for example, outside scorer vs. shooter, inside scorer vs. power vs. highflyer)? The manual only stated what a few of these did.

Can anyone answer these questions or is there a way I can contact someone who developed the game?

Yes, that's what the primacy rating does;
Yes, that's what superstar enablement of a CPU player affect, it's pretty logic that if a player is a power superstar he won't be taking three pointers and will use his strengths.
And yes, it does affect if you use that ability, another LOGIC answer.

1. Yes, a player with more primacy (an extreme example would be Kobe Bryant) will put up more shot attempts per game than a guy with lower primacy.

2. Well, really, they'll play the same way they would play without it. The superstar abilities just make them better at it. For example, you have Shaq, who absolutely dominates inside. If you didn't have freestyle superstars, in the game he would still dominate inside because of his strength and size, thus the superstar trigger just adds to his dominance with the nearly unstoppable power dunks.

3. I would think so, although I don't exactly see what you're getting at with this question.

4. Yes, there's a Superstar Moves guide here on the forums, although it doesn't say which is better, because I would assume it's just based on how you play. It's stickied in General Issues. Just incase you can't find it, here's a link:

For #3, I was asking whether superstar enablement did anything if I didn't use the left trigger button,..only the regular shoot, pass, dunk, and block buttons.

If you don't use left trigger, the player won't do anything special. He'll only do something special if you hold the left trigger and press one of the four buttons.

Who do you control when you play with the lock on???
I'm curious because i tried to play a few games with the PG locked and ended up with some nice games, realistic stats for all the players exept for mine....i had too many steals and assists (around 6 and 12 in a game) and i noticed that one of the most important freestyle superstar ability to have in my team was the highflyer because of the alley oops in fastbreak....so assist and dunk.
My players had few 3 pointers (except Redd, but only when i selected a 3 point play) and very few outside shot. Sometimes they where open for 3 but didn't shoot....frustrating. More frustrating when they made the 24 second violantion

I usually play SG or SF. I agree that my team takes few 3 pointers and few outside shots. I often have to 'force' them to shoot and have to do the same when the shot clock is running down.

I wish they would use the same AI for our computer controlled players as those on the computer team.

If I don't use the left trigger, I guess my guy won't do anything special. The computer guy with superstar enablement will though, right?

I locked on PG for awhile and if you choose the right plays and run them, you can get outside shots etc.

For example, rip iso gets the SG to take outside shots.

It did seem, however that unless the SG was quick or a player had a high primacy, guys tended to hold onto the ball too much.

Now I am playing a franchise locked onto the center. It's great fun. Ben Gordon is scoring about 14 per game off the bench for the Bulls, and Hinrich will sometimes score as many as 20. It's frustrating that on offense I cannot set a pick.

I also played a few games locked on SF and SG, both are also fun. It's pretty easy to get steals especially if you play in the passing lanes and wait for a return pass to the PG. Assists are easy for a PG with the alley oop, but it's still fun.
