Possible new direction for the Bulls...

Postby Andrew on Wed Feb 22, 2006 2:09 pm

I've been working on a couple of scenarios, so far I've only been able to get one go through.

Chicago trades:

Tyson Chandler
Chris Duhon
Jannero Pargo

Indiana trades:

Ron Artest
Scot Pollard
Samaki Walker

I'm not sure about it though...I'm not all that keen to give up Chandler, and that does leave me without a backup point guard (though obviously I can acquire one through other means, the trade gives me $1.5 million in cap room). Any thoughts?

I don't like that. I mean, you've got Deng developing at the 3 and Nocioni as well. I don't see how getting Artest would help. I think you need to keep Chandler and get a nice PF.
Go Sixers!

Well, the reason I'd do it is because Nocioni seems to play better at power forward and Artest would help out a lot defensively, as well as adding another capable and versatile scorer: two weaknesses I've noticed through the first ten games of the season. I'm loaded at power forward anyway, since I have an aging (but still decent) Shawn Kemp starting at power forward and averaging around 15 and 8, then Nocioni backing up both forward spots as well as Sweetney and Songaila.

I like it, but would it end up being like your Garnett trade?

i rekon this a good trade.

you could sign a decent pg for a year from the FA, then draft a rookie one in the offseason (Y)

ehh i like it a little bit, but you can surely get a better second player than Scot Pollard

Hopefully not. That's my other concern...though with Chandler's production so far I am giving up a fairly significant player.

I'd like that, but with the salaries and ratings of the Bulls players, it's not as easy as it seems. Artest is an 85 overall with a salary of $6.5 million, so it's harder to juggle.

Whoa Artest back.. what jersey would he wear?

As for the pg situation, dont forget Ben Gordon can fill in some minutes, and with Hinrich you have options. I say pull the trigger!

I don't like the trade, mostly because I don't like Pollard and Walker and I do like Pargo and Duhon.

In short term it sounds ok, but if you think in long term you'll need to get one or two big men for future years. But as you said before if you are determined to use Noc as a full time power forward in the future, which i like the idea, this trade can work for you.

Thanks for the input everyone. (Y) I've decided not to pull the trigger for the moment, but I might change my mind down the road; another scenario might even open up.
