Help with JERSEYS!!!

Postby unholypotato on Sun Feb 12, 2006 7:50 am

Alright. Everything worked fine until I had to do the neck trim part. In the "Creating New Jerseys" tutorial, it said

"Repeat for the rest of the neck and arm trim. Create each as a seperate vector object. This will make positioning and editing easier."

This absolutely makes no sense to me. I am using Adobe Photoshop CS, if that helps.

My question is, how can I make my necktrim smooth and nice?

Thanks!

It sounds like you're using Bassman58's tutorial for Live 05. Have you seen this yet? It has all the trim stuff done already.

Do you have Photoshop? If you do, go to Edit>Stroke and you can Stroke the trim layers from the files I posted to get smooth trims. If not, you need to create a vector layer (use the Pen Tool) and put many points around the collar/sleeves to get a curve. The more points you use, the smoother the curve.

Yea, what TOK said. What you need to do is create a separate object that you can easily edit. You need to to be able to change the color or the width of the curved lines or change the position. So if you are creating a home and an away jersey you can re-use the trims. Unfortunately when I convert to PSD files all vector information is lost (such as the points or text attributes) and this makes the converted template less useful and more confusing for PS users.

Alright, everything worked out fine until the end. I selected my ALTERNATE jersey that I have made, and in the game, it just showed as a NORMAL HOME Lakers Jersey.

Why is that?

Make sure your teamgear.dbf editing is correct. Use the DBF editing guides posted by Andrew on this site.

I did. Everything is correct. I created an ALTERNATE Jersey for my Lakers, and it will say 06-07 Alternate Jersey in the PREVIEW thing, but in game, it won't show my jersey...

EDIT: Nevermind, I reread your tutorial, and redid everything. I did not know what I did wrong the first time, but it works now. Thanks a lot!

BTW, my uniform is in dark grey. The numbers are in black, therefore it is very hard to see the numbers. How can I change the colour of the numbers?

Thanks.

Look for the numbers you want from a different jersey; open the .viv for that jersey and extract the _num.fsh file; put it in the sgsm folder with the code for your custom jersey (like lalaser3 or whatever it is). If you change the name of the _num.fsh to the name of your custom jersey and put it in the sgsm folder, it'll overwrite the numbers you have.

That's the easy way, but you can also make custom numbers if you want.

Alright, thanks. Now, how can I change the letters on the back of my jerseys? The letters are also hard to see.

Thanks!

Find letters you want, open that jersey's .viv file, export and open the xxxxyyyy.fsh file, export the letters as a .dds file, open the .fsh of your jersey and import the letters.

The name of the file, like lalaser3.fsh; xxxx is the team and yyyy is the code.
