IS GAMEPLAY REALLY IMPROVED??

Postby latinogroove on Sun Jun 08, 2003 10:45 am

Hello all,

First of all, I want to thank all of those modders out there that have done some amazing things by making NBA Live 2003 more enjoyable to play. With that said, I am still finding it difficult to play for any extended period of time. The big problem is that I just keep seeing the CPU getting out to too many fast breaks and the game feels very unrealistic. Not to mention the salary numbers being completely out of wack when I move to new rosters. I have been out of the loop for sometime, so I usually get the NLSC patch and play with that.

Does anyone out there get realistic gameplay/numbers? Please help me out and let me know if there is some miracle patch out there that makes this game bearable.

Thanks!

It's very difficult to get realistic gameplay in a 48 minute game. Roster patches can go a little way to fixing this, but since we can't adjust the game engine directly, no roster patch can completely slow down the game to a more realistic pace, reduce field goals using a satisfactory method, or change the blocking physics.

The problem with Tweaked rosters, the tweaked version of the NLSC patch included, is that they are not suitable for Franchise mode, unless each player is individually tweaked. Global changes usually cause problems with overall ratings, which in turn makes free agency and trading difficult in Franchise Mode. Similarly, generated rookies are not tweaked, thus they have better ratings than the rest of the league.

In all honesty, I don't give much attention to the tweaked version of the NLSC roster - I simply apply the coefficients to a copy of the normal version. There's some things you just can't change with a roster patch - try as you might.

Andrew,

Thanks for the insight and info buddy. That's pretty much what I figured. I wish that NBA live had sliders like HH2004 does, that way we, the user, can adjust the game to our pace. But until that happens, I guess we are at the mercy of the EA developers. I applaud the work you and the rest of the modders do, however, great job! I'll just wait for Live 2004 and see what that brings.

Peace

NBA Live 2004 will have sliders, so the tweaked roster patch will probably become obselete. I for one won't be making a tweaked roster update for Live 2004, though I will change ratings that I feel are inaccurate.
