Lebron does definitely deserve it in my opinion, but after Kobe for sure.

Maybe his contract is not yet over from previous games, and thats probably why EA chose Melo, D-Wade, and POSSIBLY Lebron, but if the contract is over, they ABSOLUTELY should put KB8 on the cover.

Hmmm apparently you haven't been following any of Potatos Dynasties for the last THREE years... All I can say is the ONE constant he's had in all his dynasties is one player...Kobe Bryant. But he was showing emotion on the cover. The cover design was nice and it was a good pic. Speaking of which, the Live 2000 logo was the best all time. That touch of yellow looked great.

On to my main reason for this post.

It doesn't matter who is 'deserving' to be on the cover. The point of the cover is to market the game. And who's the most marketable player in the league? LeBron. So by the qualifications that a game cover has, he is 'deserving.' Kobe still ain't best friends with the media thanks to his little retreat to Eagle (don't bring the topic to this) so it doesn't make sense to put him on a cover.

i lookd all nba live covers and on all are team players like garnet,melo,the flash and bryant isn't a team player (remember shaq)i think thats a big reason hes not on the cover bryant isnt a team playa

The main reason, above all others, is that he's been under contract with a different game developer for his own line of video games.
