Andrew or someone, I NEED HELP!!!!!!

Postby Tuomas on Sat May 24, 2003 1:28 am

Sorry, I didn't know where to put this, but I NEED HELP!!!

I'm trying to make a forum with phpBB (don't worry, I won't use subsilver  ), but I get stuck here.
What do I have to write?

the e-mail I got had this text +some chit chat:

Username: finnboy04
Password: wont tell ya!
Sitename (FTP login): finnboy
FTP password: wont tell ya!
The address of your website is: http://members.lycos.co.uk/finnboy/
FTP server is: ftp.members.lycos.co.uk

I browsed lycos' site and came up with info like this:

- database host: localhost

- database access login: your Tripod id

- database access password: empty

- database name: id_uk_db *

where id is your tripod id

I can't progress....I'm stuck....

Hey Andrew, I can't continue phpBB installation, I have the folders and stuff on my server, but....

I may be wrong, but this is what I think...

Database Server Hostname: localhost
Your database name: finnboy04_uk_db (I'm assuming finnboy04 is your Tripod ID)
Database Username: finnboy04 (see above)
Database Password: (leave empty, I think)

Remember to delete the necessary installation files after the forum is installed. If you still can't get it to work, I suggest contacting Lycos' tech support.

You'll have to ask Lycos about that one. Also, check to make sure the other details are correct.

Alternatively, if anyone around here has installed phpBB on a Lycos server and can provide more info, by all means do so. :)

I proceeded to the normal forum view, but there's a window that says:

Information

Please ensure both the install/ and contrib/ directories are deleted

I removed both folders, but I can't continue.
Every button I push (FAQ, search, memberlist.....) the same text appears.

:!:  :?: :?: :( :!:  :? :?: :?:   :x :!: :?:

I assume you made sure to CHMOD all the uploaded files and folders 777 (if you're using WS FTP, that's all the boxes ticked) and that you've uploaded the files to the appropriate section of your Lycos webspace?
