Trading for draft picks?

Postby Raps on Sat Jan 07, 2006 7:38 am

I've started a few dynasty seasons since getting Live in december and have been able to remake rosters relatively easily to be competitive in the 2nd year but I have not been able to get the computer to accept a trade when I'm trying to get a draft pick from them.

I haven't tried a completely lopsided deal to see if it'll ever give up a pick, but I've tried a trade favouring the CPU already, then adding my 2nd round pick for their 1st (which doesn't necesarily drop them far since I'm in the lottery and they're playoff bound), but even that doesn't work.

How do you accumulate any picks in this game in Dynasty mode?

It's really hard to get the CPU to trade picks even when you offer a lopsided deal. Usually it's easier around the trade deadline but I'd suggest you keep trying throughout the year. It's also easier when a CPU team is interested in your picks as well, that usually suggests they're interested in swapping picks or giving up their picks for one of your better players.

if you play on PC the best way to do it is by cheating, read the sticky on changing draft picks

I traded Nate Robinson (73) for Pavel Podkolzin (61) and a first round pick from Miami. They had maximum interest in Nate.

i attempted tim duncan (full 'want' bar) to atlanta for a second round pick.

didnt work.

therefore, ive come to the conclusion that unless your own draft picks are wanted, the cpu wont trade their own. they will only ever want yours if you are doing shit...

Uh, salary cap?

The computer values draft picks highly, but it can be done. The trick is to offer several players that are way up on their 'want' list. If you're trying to get rid of your point guard, trade him along with any other extra PGs you have to a team that is desperate for them. You can get a lot back.

atlanta has around 25mil in salary cap to be used, Duncan easily fits in there. he was also a full want bar.
maybe next time you try to say anything you read the post your quoting before making a fool of yourself.

they don't take picks either. I did around the lines of kyle korver, chris webber and my 1st for like bosh, eric williams, and rafer alston, and they said no.
