Open looks

Postby Bogusz_2003 on Wed Dec 28, 2005 8:42 am

Hi everyone

I have a request to all of You, can You post here any strategies how to create an open look for three point? I have changed my gamplay (playing Superstar now) and, damn, I can't find any clear threes (i am not loosing every game though...)!! When I choose simulating, I receive a box score and my players' hit many threes! I am playing actually New York Knicks, and I've got three players above 75 in three point shooting and I hit only 4-5 3-point shots. I can only try to shoot one on the fastbreak, but it's a rare situation anyway. In normal game, I try to pass the ball to center, and he immediately receives double-team but... he's covered by center and PF, other players (PG,SF,SG) are covered normally. So, I hope You help me, I love shooting for three, and that's a shame to not use Richardson (which is also skilled as a SHOOTER) but I can't hit any when I'm covered. Thanks in advance!

i set guys on picks and screens, then i get off ball and use em to run around the pics and soon enough some guys are free

another way to is to drive and kick it out, if not do it again cause sooner or later the defense will bite and you will have an open look

you dont really need a good look if you are against the cpu. just do a fake and there's this bug in which the cpu wont try to block your shot if he's about 1 second in front defending you. if you want no bugs but a really clean look, try high screen and mid power. just call these plays simultaneously in any order and there'll be a time when your sf of sg would be free.

off topic (?): does anyone know the name of the play the cpu usually executes to get openings at the three? it's hard to explain but ill explain it anyway.. the cpu's PF is located at the left of the key and the SG is at the back of him (just about 2 to 3 feet away from the PF). on the opposite side is the C and the SF is located at his back. it's like a mirror image. the next move is the SG running to the right, at the back of the C and at the 3 point territory at 45 degree angle to the basket. after the SG gets to his destination the SF will cut on the opposite direction (left) also at 45 degree angle. what happens is my SF or SG gets stuck trying to follow the one they're defending. They get stuck coz the PF and C doesn't move as if it's a pick. its very effective if you want an open 3.

Rocket Fuel is so effective and so is the DOUBLE BACK SCREEN dat the sonics use, it gives ray allen enuff space to get a 3 point shot off

single double is nice, you have options for the SG or SF.

well i'm new, and I play rookie mode, and everyone, from 'Zo to grant Hill to Ilgauskas can hit a three if they're wide open. I haven't played against the comp yet though, cuz the only time i tried was in dynasty, and it froze... :/
