Is there some sort of secret to shooting that I haven't figured out in this years edition? I have the NLSC roster update so naturally the shooting attributes have been decreased (or so I'd imagine, didn't even bother to check the EA ratings before installing the update) to make gameplay more challenging.
What bugs me though, is now pretty much any and all scoring I do is from posting up, free throws and fast break dunks. Mid-range jumpers and threes seem impossible to hit, evn with decent shooters (eg. Nash, James Jones, Paul Pierce, Dirk). Granted I've only played a couple of games so far of this years edition (on superstar though), live and learn & so forth, but it seems to me that CPU defenders always find a way to challenge shots even when they don't seem very near until just as my player goes up and the shot ends up poorly released. I tried decresing the poor shot release slider but even that didn't really help. On the other hand, the CPU doesn't seem too bothered in hitting shots when I'm challenging.
Putting up 100 vs. Dallas (with Phoeinx) in my first full game isn't necessarily bad, but having avidly played the previous NBA Live games as well I'm having a hard time understanding why it's suddenly so hard to hit even open midrange jumpers and threes with good shooters. Of all my points, I hit only one midrange jumper and one three. All the others were free throw and dunk/layup points. Is it just me sucking, or has EA once again had one of it's brainfarts and decided "instead of making the AI better, lets just make gameply more difficult by adding new controls!" like it's done with the NHL series and Madden.
Is there suddenly something more to basic shooting than just holding down the shoot-button and releasing? Or do I just suck and have to stick to dunking?
