Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Postby mjyoung on Wed Nov 20, 2002 7:15 pm

Haha you say NBA Live developers don't know much about programming and then you say you have a 7900 Pro. Okay, kid... The fact is that NBA Live 2003 runs decently on most computers, and it's not the game, rather it's the users' setup and/or driver and hardware conflicts that cause the game to not run smoothly.

The fact of the matter is that even people with the lowly Ge4 MX cards can run NBA Live 2003 well, and that alone should tell you that there's something wrong with your set-up.

My Specs:
Athlon XP 2000+
512 MB DDR 2700
Albatron GeForce 4 Ti-4200P Turbo (overclocked to 4600 levels)
Windows XP Professional
Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Mobo

Yes, I know there should be something wrong with my settings. Could you please kindly advise what have potentially been done wrongly? With my specs, I don't believe that I cannot run at 1024x768x16 with all maxed out smoothly.

Once again my system config:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Intel Pentium 4 1.6GA (overclocked to 2.4G, 150FSB)
512 MB DDR 2700
Triplex GeForce 4 Ti-4200 (64MB version)
Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1
Expo 4BDA Mainboard
-------------------------------------------------------------

of course its a radeon 9700 pro, sorry.

fact is:
- system is fresh installed
- newest drivers
- service pack 1
- other games run just fine
- i get a 3d mark of over 13000

so the problem should not be my pc. maybe some other users with a radeon 9700 can give some feedback about the performance they get.

by the way, mjyoung, im not your kid. maybe your dad. ask your mom.

I don't know what is it I can run 1280X960 @ 32 bit with most or all of the settings maxed out. I have a 1.6A o/ced to 2.6 ghz ddr 406. GF3 TI-200 overclocked to a GF3 TI-200.

*I suggest people try running their ram @ cas 2.5 instead of 2. It might solve the issue.*

sorry about the misinformation; of course GF4 is compatible with DX9. But it would not be able to utilize new features introduced by DX9 methinks. Heck, even Radeon 9700 Pro is limited in this respect. But the games that use DX9 will be few and far between until GF4 is completely phased out, possibly none. Even DX8 is just beginning to be used extensively.

cocobe:

i think there are no settings for dynamic lighting in the graphics card driver.

but i think nba live has a setting for it (under detail settings).

Bios settings.

Postby kbraidford on Thu Nov 21, 2002 2:55 am

I would probably have you check your BIOS settings. I work in PC support and am pretty good with it. Most of my co-workers who don't dable in bios get around 7500 - 9000 in 3dMark with the same equipment I have. I get around 11000.

In Nba live 2003 I get a framerate of 40-60 at 1024x768x32bit
I have all settings all the way up, quincux 4xAA, 8X anitropic and well, just plain maxxed out.

My machine is inferior to most (probably $1000 less than most here) I built it last month for $500

I have an AMD 1.45 ghz ($60)
a cheapo biostar MB 333mhz ($65)
512 PC2700 ddr (125)
G4 ti 4200 ($120)

Plenty of power for today's HIGH END gaming.
check to see your running 4x speed on the AGP with about half of your memory (mine is 512) used to buffer (256) it.

Duron 1GHz
384MB SDRAM - 133MHz
TNT2 M64 32MB

I run at 800x600x16. Everything on low, except player details and details on medium. Am I the only one without a super computer?

Nope

P3 450
Win ME
384 MB of Ram
Geoforce 4 MX 64 MB

I can play pretty smooth without full shadows running.

I just experienced the notorious WIN ME memory leak. I was going to up the chip to P3 900 for about $110 and get WIN XP. What are the cons about Win XP? Can you install it a certain number of times or something?

Hi kbraidford,

Could you mind telling what settings should I review in Bios? Since there are many settings there.

Thanks!

squidy37, you're not the only one.
I'm running it on a Pentium III 550, 128MB SDRAM, 16MB Savage4 PC.
- 1024x768x32bit resolution
- Player Detail Maxed
- Enviroment, Bench, Texture = Medium
- The rest of the details = Off

The game is running well. Good framerate. No choppiness
