i agree....Live has always been realistic to me ever since 2005, if ppl choose to abuse the freestyle superstar moves then its up to them....ive always played the sim way and i barely press the L trigger,i still say FSS is the best feature ever added in a ballgame, theres gotta be a distinction from scrubs and stars...see how CPU superstar players utilize it well?dats the same for me.... EA did a nice job of incorporating this FSS, but once again too many live fans get overly ecstatic by winning games with a 80pt margin, dats their own cup of tea....Kidd-playmaker,RJ-Highflyer, VC-Highflyer...i dont fail to deliver on a fastbreakTheChancellor wrote:ijbl wrote:In my dynasty I have turned off all the superstar abilities for my own players; they just kill the game and make it too easy.
EXACTLY! Now isn't Live more realistic? I'm telling you. All this negative talk about the realism of live can be stopped if people just try the game without the superstar feature. It makes for a wonderful game.
I mean, just think hard about the game. What else is there that makes the game unrealistic when playing in superstar mode? I mean, maybe shots go in a lot more, besides that, and superstar moves... I think Live is an excellent game.
TheChancellor wrote:Alright. People say hands down, that NBA 2K6 is the better game. And while this isn't the issue right now it plays a huge role in the upcoming discussion.
The issue here is realism, something Live 06 lacks. After far as animation goes, Live 06 is as realistic as you can get. The movements, in comparison to all basketball games I've played, is amazing. Just blows the competition out of the water. I like the fact that right the flick of the joystick to the right, my man hesitates in that direction. We have complete control, whereas with 2K6, you don't.
There's a couple of things that make me mad about live 06, and all of them tie into this new Superstar feature. Here's a prime example.
One-handed hookshots from beyond the three-point line. This just disgusts me, and I can only think of one game where I've lost to somebody who DIDN'T abuse it.
I tried playing a few games with all superstar attributes disabled. And let me tell you... I had the best online experience ever. This time, I could take a loss, and blame only myself for slack defense and poor shots. Freestyle seems to override all aspects of the system, namely defense. No matter if you call a double team or have a hand in the guy's face, he's still guaranteed a hookshot from the three. Without freestyle, he's forced to take a regular jumpshot, which with the right timing, can actually be blocked.
There are obviously more differences between Live 06 and 05 besides the Superstar features. You can do more now, and I always feel confident about dropping the ball inside the post now. (In 05, I thought there were too many blocks and steals. I couldn't use them very well.)
Try it guys. We all liked 05 without the Superstars. I think the full potential of this game can be brought out by not using superstar attributes at all.
If enough of you guys agree. I'll think about starting a club online and maybe host a league. I think it's a great idea.

The controls on 2k6 suck compared to live's, I kinda like the feethrow system but its too easy. Im not a Live fanboy just to clear things up.

johnnyboy wrote:are you an undercover EA live developer? it sounds as if you are trying to promote live 06 for the 360. your general aguement is about the game being better without the superstar controls, and thats how it is in the 360 version. and it is rediculeous. while i have not play the game in the 360 version too much, so i will have to rely on what you say. and there's not much that you said. hook shot behind the arc is horrible, but how can you take out the feature for one bug, while the the rest is absolutely fun(for an arcade game).
every time i play live 06, it feels as if i am playing 05, just losen up on the cpu D. i think you're either a live dev or never play 2k6 yet. we all know 2k6 has better graphics...on all system, thus better animation. the general feel when moving a player arounds feels better (i think) depends on how long you have play each game. when i first play 2005, it feel great becasue i have nothing to compare it too. and when i first play 2k5 after months of playing 2005, it felt weird. then, of course, i got use to it, and it felt great, now live feels rediculeous. but whether it feels right or not, live players moves like old people, not because of it being slow, but it being slow motion. better animations belongs to 2k6(period)

johnnyboy wrote:i can tell you, that is even worst. the two game is completely different in controles. if you try to play both at the same time, its not going to workout. but you will have more trouble with 2k6 more because 2k6 is completely different from any game, while live 06 are what you are use to.
bigh0rt wrote:If you feel the need to turn off Superstar moves with your own players but not the computer, why not just restrict when/how often you use them? Nobody's forcing you to come down and use your Superstar moves each time down the court. They're a neat add-on to the game, if you don't use them cheesily. I do feel, however, that too many players have the abilities, which has led me to only allow real top-notch players at each skill to utilize the Superstar ability.
