Unbeatable Teams

Postby TheBigEasy on Sun Apr 27, 2003 11:46 pm

Hi Folks,

we had some "Unstoppable players" Threads out there, now one for the teams.

Are there any teams, which you just cant beat? You have played against them and nothing worked to beat 'em?

For me, my nemesis is Dallas. I have played them 3 times now and several attempts, but i just cant beat them.

First game. I had a Franchise running with New Orleans, DK's tweaked roster, 8 minutes, All Star Level. I came to Dallas, and was behind by 20+ points very quickly. I had to start this game over and over again, one time because i just wanted another chance :D, 3-4 times, because my computer froze midway through the game. But in none of these attempts i was able to do anything. I was behind by at least 20, every time i stopped the game. Than finally, i was able to play it through, i lost 99 - 125. There was just no way to stop them from scoring.

Than, recently i played to other games vs. them. Andrews roster from the beginning of April, the tweaked version, 8 minutes, All Star. Game one, exhibition game, Houston @ Dallas. I played Houston. This i also had to start again numerous times, because my computer crashed . Two times, right before the crash, i was within 3 points and had just finished a huge rally to come off a double digit deficit. Glen Rice once eliminated a double digit lead alone within 4 minutes :D. Than, as i was able to play it through, is still couldnt win, i lost it 80 -something to 77 if i remember right. I shot to much three pointers in the end, cause i thought i had much less time than actually was on the clock. If i had played tight D and strategic offense, i could have won it. Dallas even was without Finley and Nowitzki was in foul trouble large part of the game.

Than, just an hour ago, i started a Playoff series, same roster as above, 8 minutes, All Star, 1 game each round, cause i want to play every game. First game, No. 1 seed LA Clippers (dont laugh) vs. No. 8 seed Dallas Mavericks. I played LA. I thought, this will be an easy game, cause i blowed Orlando by 40 with LA in an exhibition game before. Through regulation it was an easy game. Midway through the fourth i was up by 12 to 15 points. But the evend it and it went into overtime. I pulled away quickly in overtime, but they came back and the game went into second overtime! I wasnt able to contain Steve Nash and his 3 pointers. My 3 pointshooter, Eric Piatkowski had no good game. Vs. Orlando he came from the bench when there were only 6 minutes to play and scored 24 points in those 6 minutes, 18 of them with 6 Treys! But this time he fouled out, seconds before the end of the second overtime. I lost the game 131 - 134, a threepoint attempt from Maggette from midcourt failed at the end. This game, they were also with out Micheal Finley.

So, i havent found a way to beat them. And i guess i will have to play them at least one more time, in the second round. Maybe i play them, but most likely i will play the Hornets, if they beat the Grizzlies (dont ask :)).

Have you any such nemesis teams and have you finally found a way to beat 'em?

yeh i had a simular problem.. but what i found works is that Dalas is very weak at the C.. so i gave the ball to yao on almost every possesion, and im on superstar level... just fake and they will all jump... its a known fact... another thing is time ur blocks... they are very weak going to the basket.. most of their shot will be long distance so u can get a tonne of blocks...

the team i cant beat is utah jass.. i dont know y.. i played them about 3 time and no luck.. i lead all the way to 4th 1/4 then they bring in scott pagett and i just cant stop his 3s, nothing i do matters, he puts up 25 just in the last 1/4 and im like up 15 going into 4th 1/4.... and of cource the magics... with t-mac and armstrong shooting 3s.... nothing i do works...

the easiest team to me is the NJ nets... i get Martin out the fis 1/4 in the 1st 2 min with offencive fouls, same as motambo... kid just shoots 3s with bad rating while kittles is mostly slower them my SG (eddie jones now) they still play well but... they lose.. my only thret on that team is rodney rogers.. i have PF who can shoot 3s, they are juist cant be stopped!!

For me, Houston is an unbeatable team... They always win! I even did make a thread about them on another section...

Thanks for the tip with Dallas. I have to play them soon again, this time with the Hornets. I hope i can win this one.

But for the Magic. They are one of the easiest teams to beat for me. No matter what T-Mac does, i just keep containing the others and i will win. I had a game with LA Clippers vs. the Magic. T-Mac had 30+ points, but i blew them anyway, 124-84. Same with the Hornets. Before my comp froze, T-Mac had 40+ points but i was on the way to blow them away. The key to the Magic is, to keep the other people from scoring and doing anything. Than T-Mac can score as much as he wants, you will win.

I play in francise mode with cleveland and it's my 3rd season, I have played all games(7 minutes, all-star) and I can't beat Seattle. I just can't stop Ray Allen and his crazy 3-s. Then if Allen don't shoot a 3 then it's Radmanovic or Lewis and Barry....uh. I have lost ALL my games too them.
For example one season I was on a 14 game winning-streak beating DAL, LAL, SAC, ORL, HOU and a couple weaker teams, and whatta suprise there comes Allen&Co I lose by 30!!!!!! I'm going crazy!

While I recognise the right of free speech in the forum, I feel you could have been a little more diplomatic with your last post, Makaveli. Parts of it, especially the "U ROOKIES..." bit comes off as unnecessarily mocking and demeaning. I don't want this to be a community where people come to swap NBA Live stories, discuss elements of the game or ask for advice only to be mocked in this manner.

This is not a warning, this is not a threat, just a polite request to be a little less condescending when you post. Obviously, you have mastered the game, but not everyone has the ability to excel on all difficulty levels - especially if they are new to the game. Please don't demean others because they have not yet mastered the game at all difficulty levels.

One more thing - it's bad "netiquette" to post messages in all caps - it represents shouting. Please refrain from posting in all caps. Thanks. :)

You said it yourself, it took you a long and hard time. Imagine that, some of us are not yet through this long and hard time ... and yes, i still get my ass busted in AllStar. Thats why i dont even bother playing in superstar. When somewhere in the future the time comes my long and hard time is over and i master the game like you, than maybe i wont get my ass busted. But if that happens i will stop playing, cause it is no fun anymore, when you can win everygame on any given difficulty level.

U ROOKIES...

back in 97 me and my friends started playing on superstar and went on an 12 game losing streak, every game we had to fight for every point. it took a long time before we were kicking arse but we did, so give them some space to play and learn

Maybe I didn't have to much free time on my ass to "master the game" like you, Makaveli... You know, studying, working, goin' out with my bitches, things like that... (Y)

And playing on superstar sucks because of the free throws... It's impossible to hit them...

Hey my mistake Andrew & others....

I wasn't being serious or anything when I said u rookies. I only meant it as a joke, I should have said "U Rookies" and then put "LOL" after it.

My mistake,

Peace out....

It's OK, no harm done. Just try to be a little more diplomatic when you post - I realise it's difficult to properly convey tone and expression on an Internet forum. :)

every team in nba live that has a 3 point shooter is hard to beat. u can only beat this teams if you're on a player lock and cheat on defense by intercepting the pass. :P

I'm able to beat nearly every team on All Star, but there is only one team that I couldn't beat:

MEMPHIS

With Dallas, I destroyed SAC with 60:78, WAS, UTAH and Seattle. But I'm not able to beat Memphis!
In four games I lead with around 15 points at halftime but they finally won every time.
In the last minutes they hit every 3 pointer. :x

me too!

Postby wisewag on Thu May 08, 2003 4:03 pm

I always have difficulty with Portland and Phoenix, but of course playing with the Lakers is already a fact VERY DIFFICULT but i have their numbers coz i use DALLAS they juz cant stop DIRK. everytime i play its easy for Dirk to score 40. The best tip i could give you guys is limit your turnovers by watching the defenders b4 u pass and running the fastbreak, this gameplay is very effective using DALLAS, Dirk, van exel and nash could just stop and pop! and if its finley its a slam!!! :P one more tip in the 4th when you have the lead, take care of the time, i mean waste it, youll have a hard time pushing the ball, make sure you turn your back away when driblling and stay away from double teams, find the open man when they double.. i hope that would help you guys, practice free throws too! :P goodluk!!!

After i finally solved the problem with my freezing comp i played again vs. Dallas. This time with the Hornets again. And i managed to win .. Yeeha .. :D. It was a tough game, but in the end i won. I just stayed focused and tried to score safe baskets, rather than shooting erratic treys ... and it worked.

i find for some reason teams with good C/PFs easier to beat (i.e. spurs are a piece of cake) but teams like boston and dallas are sometimes hard to beat due to them making too many impossible 3pt shots.

yeh, i cant stop nash;s 3s!!! But usualy only one or two players get realy going, in dalas the hardest thing is to stop Dirk if the CPU makes his shoot well!

nash and the threes, definitely, but last night it was marion&marbury going insane from outside, marion going for 47 or so points, and again it seemed like they had no post presence (even though they had amare and ilgauskas!).

Playing on allstar the easiest way to win is to have a solid shooting guard. Run crossover spin thats all you need to do and you will easily win. The defense seems to leave big gaps in the key so driving is fairly easy.

DALLAS

They're impossible, wow, they just killed me in my Franchise, (details on that once I post 'em on my website) they won by like 30 points, here's there starting 5 in my franchise
C - Raef Lafrentz
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
SF - Morris Peterson
SG - Michael Finley
PG - Steve Nash
Every single one of their starters is a good 3-point shooter. can't stop 'em

dallas i can deal with.. most of their points come from michael finley, at least in my game.. i tend to double a lot and play the half court trap.. it forces a lot of turnovers and a lot of missed field goal opportunities.. the teams i can't beat.. the lakers, (well i came back from 20 the other day; final quarter and beat them by 13 - but theyre still hard!) and the CELTICS. paul pierce is a monster, he's just too quick :x
