Why I can't win against Houston?

Postby Bill Russell on Wed Apr 09, 2003 6:32 pm

Everytime I play against Houston I lose! What's goin' on?

Francis is unstoppable. He's quick as hell, never misses a shot, gets fouled every time he goes to the bucket and always, I mean, ALWAYS steal my passes

Mobley plays like Kobe/McGrady. Unstoppable at goin' to the hole.

Posey is a Pippen-esque kinda player. Best defender on the team.

Griffin blocks all the shots and dunks all the time.

And Yao, well he never touches the ball, but when he does, he always fills the box score... Assist, block, dunk, rebound, etc...

I've tried to beat them with New Jersey, the Lakers, Cleveland (a good run and gun team), even Sacramento... But nothing does.

What's goin' on????

I could take down the primacy, quickness, speed, etc, but it wouldn't do much good. Editing ratings can only go so far in changing the gameplay.

Also, except for Ming, those are the default ratings, so it's not something I've done. I will see if I can tone down some of their ratings a bit - there's some other players I know I have to deal with as well. It might solve some problems, but much of it is the nature of the gameplay.

I think Rockets aren't such a god-like team... And except Franchise, the other 4 starting players' overall are all less than 85. Griff could block many shots, Franchise and Pose could steal many passes, but not always do... I like Rockets & always use them to play in franchise mode, and have a good standing, but i also used Lakers, Kings and Mavericks to beat them, it isn't a perfect team.

i think u just have to get used to the game.... the very first time i played it i count put up a shot, every tme it got blocked, i lost the ball so many times i count keep playing.

evryone has been saying stuff ike this about the game, but u just have to get used to it. for eg.
if u were a coach of a team and u see a player is killing ur team what would u do??? (Phil Jackson in Sac vs LAL) put someone els on that player. if ur playing against Rockets then put like Kobe if ur lakers on him, kobe is taller and faster then fisher, if its Nets, put Martin....
noticed if u put even a PF on a plyer who drives it stoppes him, take ur time to take a charge.... etc....

now i got used to the game and i get like 4-5 blockes form the other team... i get more now but u have to get out of the habit where in nba2001 u could just shoot a jumper in the Ds fase and he'll do nothing!!

well said bballer22.

in the two games i played since installing this roster, i have found it much more realistic than the rosters i had(stoudamire actually started for the suns!). but i have to say, tales has a point. i simmed to the end of my season for an unrelated reason, and there sat houston atop the midwest. i thought it was a fluke until i saw this thread.

I know, it's something I'm not too happy about. The problem is, to get the teams ranked realistically, I usually end up overrating or underrating players. It's a balancing act, one I haven't perfected in the 2003 roster update yet.
