The patching community asleep.

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

The patching community asleep.

Postby Mysticsmoke on Mon Oct 24, 2005 9:10 am

Man, what gives with the patching community this year? The game came out early and has been out for over a month and yet there is not a decent roster patch out yet. I've never seen it this dry before. Have the patchers given up on the game? Is there something that makes making patches harder this year? Not only that, but the best slider makers aren't posting any sliders either. Is the community giving 06 the thumbs down or have the die hard patchers and sliders just grown up and quit playing. Either way it's a sad day for EA. The community makes the PC version worth it. If the greats in the community quit supporting the game I may as well buy it on console. Imagine 05 with out the great patches we got off of this board and nbalive.org? It would have never played as well as it eventually did. I sure hope Andrew and he rest of the Live crew are still patching and we see something from them soon.

I think they are waiting for a final roster to be set before releasing anything. Not much use in taking the time and effort to make a roster and a lot of those guys will get cut this week. Look around people have made rosters though. I can see about 2 or 3 people who've released rosters in the past 3 weeks. Maybe if you looked a little harder, you might of found what you are looking for.

Instead of complaining, why not try to fix the rosters yourself?

I have a feeling that it could be in turn the fact that the game isn't all that enjoyable... I mean when really popular Lives' were out, the patchers were spitting out projects like a 30 year old prostitute with a condom allergy. This Live is yet again another one that people either love or hate, and most of the "big" patchers don't seem to care.

I agree with you Jae. Something gives. And for you other Nimrods, if you noticed, I wasn't complaining, I was asking questions. I have fixed "mu" rosters, I was talking about the normal patching that usually goes on in the community. Usually within a week of release there are patches out there, not so this year. Have you stopped a moment and asked yourself why? I want to know if it is something with the game's patching accessibilty or an overall lose of intrest in the game itself.

It's not that it's asleep; as a matter of fact, this year there are more submissions than ever to the site (at least that's what I think).
Tho it seems to me that more and more new guys are starting to patch, and the 'vets' just take their time (more so than before).

I suggest looking in this thread: http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic30315.php

By the way, the patchablility this year is exactly the same as last year, be if for good or worse...

It's worse. lol. It would've been better if it was as patchable as 2004

Can't speak for anyone else, but I don't have so much free time these days. In fact, this is the first time I've been on the NLSC in about three days. Roster should hopefully be out this week though.

2004 was the best patching year. 2000 let you put in your own in game ditties which helped the atmosphere of the game. They took all that away from us.

Yeah, the one thing that 2004 lacked was sound editing. It would've been cool if we could've edited the speech files

That's what I exactly did and it paid off (Gamecube user). Now I can just make CAPS of the missing players and I'll be satisfied with the rosters this year. :)

Considering many of the patches are able to be used from last year, it puts a kaibash on much of this years patching. I think a majority of people are using last year's patches this year and are just playing the game.

He is not complaining. He just wants some information. I feel the same way. The game has been out for a month and there are no updates except for cyberfaces and other meaningless bullshit.

Patches from last year work on this year's game? I find that hard to believe. Is it true?

Some do, like jerseys and cyberfaces, with minor adjustments.

No, rosters don't work because the .dbf's are slightly different.

Yes, I do ask myself why. Here are some reasons i thought of:

1. The patchers have a life outside patching a videogame.

2.
Mysticsmoke wrote:the game's patching accessibilty

If you're an NBA Live fan, you do know that patching has gone downhill since Live 2000 with the exception of Live 04 and Live 02 (because there was none for the PC  ).
3. The patchers are disappointed with (the repackaged) Live 05, I mean Live 06.
