Release some players from your roster

They still go against the cap.

Dump large salaries to the Bobcats.

Well, first off get expiring contracts with one or two years in them. For example, let's use Jalen Rose and his monster 16 million a year contract that has two years left in it. Since I want to free up some cap space, I would make a trade to Chicago for Tim Thomas, since Tim Thomas gets paid around 12 million a year, but only has one year left. So after the off-season, Thomas's contract will expire so that will help me free up 12 million in cap space unless you decided to re-sign him to a contract.

If you need salary cap immidiately, trade players with high costs to Hawks, Bobcats, Bucks, and Hornets. If you can wait, trade for some really old players which may retire or someone whose contract will expire after the season.

Again it shows how stupid this game is. If you are Hornets, Bucks or Hawks, would you accept hugh contracts for useless players so every team would dump the salary to you???

Jannero Pargo and Van Horn have completely different salaries. Van Horn makes 10+ million while Pargo makes a few hundred thousand.

If you want your trade to be successful then trade Van Horn for someone worth a similar amount of money, like Hardaway or Tim Thomas.
