NBA Live 2k6 (questions ....) (please help)

Postby sawgood on Wed Oct 19, 2005 1:42 pm

Hi:

Question #1:
When playing the Denver Nuggets, I have found it easy to figure out how to use all the FreeStyle modes for all players except for Carmello Anthony. I was wondering how I should use him to play his best (Xbox with standard joystick) ... Should I try to use him when shooting on the MOVE, or standing still? Should I try to shoot from outside the key, or when inside the key (with his Freestyle skills).

Question #2:
Is there anyway to SAVE a game after it has started?

Question #3:
Why is that some of the attributes for some Freestyle skills are listed as disabled instead of enabled ... while others simply say N/A. My inital thought was that 'maybe' if they were having a good game ... they would change from disabled to enabled.

Question #4:
Is there anyway to FAKE a pass (for non Freestyle shooting or playmaker having players).

Question #5:
Can someone tell me the various joystick button results when attempting to rebound a ball? For example, pressing the B button (when on offense) will try to tip the ball back in the rim.

Thanks in advance!

Huh?

No

You can only enable 1 offensive and 1 defensive (if applicable) Freestyle skill per player. So you can disable LeBron James inside scoring skill and replace it with the player maker or high flyer skill. You can only have 1 offensive and 1 defensive freestyle skill enabled on your player at any time.

Question #4:

Not that I know of

Question #5:

Button 4, Pro Hop is for normal rebound

I think last year the Dunk / Layup button would attempt a tip slam and the regular shot button would just attempt a normal tip in. I would assume its the same again this year.

Have you checked the manual?

Thanks in advance!

Thats OK (Y)

Hi Andrew:

What I meant by question #1 .... was ...

I know EXACTLY how to position Kenyon Martin in the POST, off/ball or pass it directly to him, and then ... I hold down the LEFT trigger and use ANY button to make him to a power slam. I am not too sure if there is really any 'difference' between which BUTTON I use with a power fss because I haven't noticed any major difference ...

NOW ....

Understanding that I know exactly how to use the power fss ability, I am at a loss when it comes to using Carmelo Anthony's outside fss. It seems like when I use either KM's Power fss or V Lenord's scorer fss ... that it is VERY simple ... but when I try and use CA outside fss .... I just don't get it ... how do I make the best of his fss?

Thanks again for all the other tips ...

BTW.... I am pretty sure that when rebounding while being the shooter ... the B button does a tip in and the X and/or Y buttons have other 'special tricks' ... I do not have the key pattern down for what happens on defensive rebounds other then B I think is a normal rebound.

I had this almost charted out for NBA Live 2k5, but I can't find confirmation for it in 2k6 'yet'. I do have a couple of cool .PDF or .DOC files that I would like to send you ... then if others had joystick questions for the Xbox game ... we could send them a URL to get it from me???

Just my way of trying to help give back to the system that has helped ease my mindset while trying to MASTER this game ...

I cannot wait to get my hands on NCAA March Madness 2006 ... It is going to have mapped plays NOT only for the offense, but for defensive play calling as well.

To put it best, I was told that the reason that in most part that EA Sports DOES NOT do all it can with documentation of the joystick and other 'things' inside of its 'pro games' is because they do all this for their college games which should be a pre-requirement to play BEFORE you play the pro game.

For example, follow all the outlined plays inside of NCAA March Madness 2006, and then take what you learned from that and ADD to it the Pro stuff. You can really learn a good bit from simply playing the 'college' game(s) either before or at the same time you are messing with the EA pro sports game.

My two cents for the night!

Thanks in advance!

Kinda n00b-question, but how do you switch between different superstar modes during the play? I haven't figured that out yet, pressing/tapping superstar trigger several times won't help.

Another question considering calling offensive/defensive plays. Back in the days we had a playcalling -button, which could be andjusted in control config -window. There's no such thing in Live 2006, so how do you pc-users call plays, are there some default keyboard hotkeys available?

I'm playing the pc version of the game with my ancient Gravis Gamepad Pro, it's 10 buttons have been adequate for my needs in the past, but I guess I'll have to update it to be able use all available moves in Live 2006 ?

Not sure what the correct buttons for PS2 is, but when a shot is missed, push the Dunk/Lay-up button to try and dunk the ball back in, the Shoot button to try a tip-in, and the rebound button to perform, well, a regular rebound. There are also some FSS moves when it comes to rebounding, but I haven't quite learned how to use them yet, but I think FFS+Rebound button will get the player to try and reach over another player for the rebound.

You can't do it when in a game, only from the menus... Then it's Roster Updates - Roster Management - Freestyle Superstar Type

About the play calling, here's a part of the menu from the Controller Config:
You can also click them twice to get up team specific plays...

But yea, a newer controller would be good if you're planning on playing Live a lot. It should be one with dual analog sticks so that you can utilise all the functions in the game. If you don't know which one to get, we've had a few threads about it, so just search for it (y)

The official title of the game is called:

NBA Live 06

"Last year it was called NBA Live 2005"

You two are 'so' worried about the small things that you probably miss the entire big idea of what this site is setup for.

Either that OR you are so worried about the ESPN game called NBA 2k6.
