Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

am i spreading LOVE or trash?(its still trash)

Postby Mr.Funk on Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:31 am

remember me, johnnyboy, the famous poster who choice 2k6 over LIVE 06, from the popular thread "tomarrow will be the day in wich my faith(i have chosen)". well, today is next week, so i have bought 2k6. i don't have much more to say about it, i have said enough on my last thread. and as you remembered, one of my friends has LIVE 06, and now i'm spreading the love--i promise i'll let him try 2k6 out when i get it. after five minutes, he got so angry and declare 2k6 as trash and that i have just wasted five minutes of his life.

I was shock, i mean SHOCK, i thought i could convince him, i guess i was wrong. well, after several minutes of debating, we decided to trade our games for one day, so we can see the beauty in each(if theres any). now, i have prabably play like 3-4 hours of LIVE 06, and YES, i'm staking to my opinions, this is an arcade style basketball game.................buuuuuut(not to worry yet), i will take back what i said, that arcade sports games are not fun. I guess, i just didn't get it before. now, don't get me wrong, i still think 2k6 is better, but after playing this game, i maybe could spend a whole 30-40 bucks after i get bored with 2k6.

I think i'm about to get a call from my friend pretty soon, who is about to give me his opinion about 2k6. i would predict that he is still going to be piss off, because the controls will be completely different from any basketball game(the shot stick especially). and plus this is a SIM, he would have to have some sort of NBA basketball knowlegde(which i don't think he have) to just not get his ass blown out by 15.

I formally apologize for critisizing LIVE 06 has not being a fun game......but thats it. i'm sticking to it not being like the NBA

"Its better than before", the first words out of his mouth. I guess, everybodies is the same, LIVE fans, 2K fans, and me, when you're stock to something you loved, its hard to accept change. he said the graphics are definitly better, but the gameplay were not that good compare to LIVE06. about scoring, well, he can't, he said its every hard to use the IsoMotions moves, because now its on the right stick, and it was impossible to make a jumpshot with the shot stick and its kinda limited compare to FSS. and that he can't play any defense on the cpu.

"what the hell do you expect", my response to him. when i first play 2k6 saturday at my friends house, all the stuff he can't do, i can't do, even day, i still have some problems, but its getting better, and i like it more and more as i gets bettrer with the controls and discover how smart the AI is.

I guess, i was able to like LIVE 06 so soon, because i am use to the controls, i have LIVE 2005 and 2k5.

Some of the posters in these forums are from other countries in which English is not a primary and required language. So keep it easy with them.

I played NBA 2K6 over last weekend at a trade show. It was shocking to see how much better the player movement, shot selection, and realism are in that game. The AI actually moves the ball around the perimeter and then into the big men and back in a realistic way. Fast breaks are more realistic. The game pace is more playable one on one, and it's not just rush to the lane and dunk.

The game is better than NBA Live 06, but it's not available on PC.

I actually think player movement, shot selection and game pace in Live is very good once you adjust the game. Ball Movement is very noticeable when you understand the plays and assign them to match team(s) and game pace can be controlled by Sliders by toning things down.

As for FASTBREAKS, I clearly disagree with you on this comment. I think Live has the best Fastbreak's ever incorpoarated into a video game to date. This should have been years ago by EA and they are late inserting it into the series but they nailed it down almost perfect that's for sure.

From the time i spend playing LIVE 06, i was able to notice the fastbreak has been revamp, but i'm not sure i would agree it being as good has you said it. its definitely better than last year(wait, they was no fastbreak last year   ), and i hate to admitted it, but i actually think its a little bit better than 2k6(i am shock just like any SIM fan). in 2k6, 90% of the time the person would look to pass the ball, now, i wouldn't have a problem with that, since the best fastbreak technique is to pass, but they do it quite rediculeouly sometimes--passing it went the defender is right there(rip and strip, not much use), when the passer is at the half court with the defender right with the reciever, and(annoyingly), passing it when the best possible way to score in the given situation is to take it in for themselves, because the ballhandler is wide open. in LIVE 06 i noticed, some stupid passing too, but the flow was better, and i can actually find an open men for a three, i am so disappointed that 2k took that away this year. seeing too many dunks will make the game repetitives very soon, so i love to hit threes.

IN NBA Live the computer (if you're on the team, playing locked on another player) will often run straight into the defender, then pass it to the other offensive player who tosses up a shot that is either blocked or hits the back of the backboard.
