My Portland Frachise

Postby w00kle on Fri Apr 18, 2003 9:16 am

hey guys started my franchise a few weeks ago...

i'm currently 4-4

i've had a few average games while i am tryin to get used to my team.

my last game was vs the lakers.... at one stage i was down 20-2 in the 1st quarter.. i fought my way back and send the game to overtime

i was down by 4 with about 6 seconds to go then bonzi hit a layup.. from the inbound he stole the ball, sent it out to rash in the corner who spread it to damon at the top who hit a stunning three on the buzzer :D :D

players i have brought to the team are amare stoudamire, nick van excel and shareef

my lineup is

C - Davis
PF - Wallace
SF - Antonio
SG - Wells
PG - Damon

i'm thinkin about trading wells and maybe pippen for a centre and promoting shareef to SG.. what y'all think??

keep ya posted as the season progress's...

no I'm a fan, but playing a 6'9'' pf (he shouldn't even play SF) at the two guard is crazy

what are you talking about? abdul-wahad is tariq abdul wahad, and he is a two guard. Did you just have the first names mixed up. Shareef Abdur-Rahim is the Hawks power forward.

yep i dunno what i was talkin about ....

i meant tariq abdul wahad

i recieved him in a trade....

what ya think about him replacing wells????

i don't think i should trade wells he seems to be going alright now..
even though i have slipped to 4-7

might trade davis and get a good athletic centre, maybe along the lines of camby to fit the mould of my team

I recommend trying different lineups before making a trade. In my experience, tinkering with your team too much in a short space of time often leaves you with a roster you don't enjoy playing with.

Andrew is right, from past experience, making so many trades, despite it being a awesome roster, I wasn't happy with it, because it wasn't the real team. So I ended up trading for some of the players on the real Wizards roster, and now I'm much more happy with my team. One player I'm happy I did get rid of was Bryon Russell.

The problem I usually have when I overhaul my team's roster is that my bench is too good/consists of a whole lot of good role players, when I usually give the most minutes to about 8 (sometimes 9) players, with a couple picking up minutes here and there, and another couple who rarely see action. I also usually end up with a team that looks good on paper, but just doesn't feel right when I play the games.

In my Timberwolves franchise, I've not made any trades (I did waive Slater after I'd played a few games and given him limited minutes in only a couple of the games), though I might make changes as the season progresses. I really recommend avoiding trading for the sake of trading. Franchise Mode gives us the power to run the team as we see fit, but I find that you can mess it up if you make too many changes - at least the first year.

yeah i agree, i made quite a few changes with my cleveland franchise, but my roster was too strong so i got rid of a few of my better banch players and even big z so now im above the net points and i have a small bench which is good. I dont have that good and inside scoring team so it makes the games more of a challenge.

due to the fact i never save my game on my PS i just leave it on 24/7

well after not playing the game for 5 days it was frozen....

R.I.P

have since started a new game with the t-wolves and i'm 1-1

and now am in the habit of saving my game, but anyways i'm prefering the timberwolves anyway

yea i know i'm just a lazy prlck...

but as i said i prefer the t-wolves, when i was playing as portland it was turning out to be a one man show... wallace was gettin around 50 points in most games, but here i'm tening to share the load around more between KG, joe and brandon. it certainly is alot more fun than just simply running down the court and offloadin it to big rash.
