Qweet's Announcement thread

Postby Cameron on Thu Apr 10, 2003 12:28 pm

Umm, sorry to start a whole new thread, I was unable to edit the old one, hope this doesn't qualify as spam Yohance

Anyhoo, I've finally finished version 1.2 of the JI. I don't have time to post all the details now, I'll do it tomorrow morning, but there are now 2 different zip version:

Jersey Installer Patch Development Kit
and
Jersey Installer Lite

Lite just includes the exe and the readme.
PDK includes a whole wallup of stuff, like a tutorial on how to make self installing jerseys with the new JI, a shoe chart, and a colour chart. All you retro guys, this is what you want!

Try and put a little more detail tomorrow, for now just go download it and screw around.

Its in the the downloads section at http://qweet.bigmoron.com

Tell me what you think, those of you who download it, especially the PDK version.

Sorry Mitch, I've never gotten that problem. Could be with the web1000 server, I don't know.

I'm going to try and upload the same stuff to my mirror site, http://himheru.tripod.com

So if web1000 isn't working right, go to http://himheru.tripod.com/downloads.htm

Its not there yet, but I'll upload when I get to school.

I'll also update the webpage, make a new preview page, and give you guys all the details of the PDK, whats new, etc.

Hey, I know lots of people have downloaded this new version... as I had 252 visitors last night and now am over 300... but I was hoping for some more feedback so I may make improvements, or just general complements are nice. I'm going to try and update the whole webpage as soon as I can, with new news, jersey installer information page, etc.

I've started hosting FTW's jersey patches on my site. Now you have something to install when you download the installer :D

As we speak I am uploading the JI to http://himheru.tripod.com/downloads.htm so try that site if you are having problems with http://qweet.bigmoron.com

I included a small tutorial with the PDK version on how to make jersey install patches... and now I'm in the process of making a larger tutorial on how to create a jersey patch from scratch.

So tell me what you think about my work, any comments, suggestions, requests? :o and I will definitely reply. (and no requests about a new blotch please, I'm already thinking about that. )

I love the fact that you included previews of the shoes and color of the bands, now you don't have to guess what your stuff will turn out like. The only problem i've had was when adding retro jerseys in particular the clippers my game would crash when trying to load. Also when I did not choose the clippers and just chose another team when playing at a different time, my game would crash :( Other than that I find this program very useful, keep up the good work!

Deebee, I had the same problem once. I'm not sure if its the installer or just the game. I installed my jersey to a roster, loaded it, and went into a game and it crashed. I restarted the computer and went back into the game and that time it worked fine.

Dont know why this happens.

all it needs now is keyless entry. i love the patchmaking option. i was wondering, does the *.jer file need to be in mydocuments/nba live 2003 for it to work properlyfor the patch user? i also wondered what save slot the patcher should choose when creating a *.jer file.

LOL I actually am working on a keyless entry... I installed a jersey from down the street..

In regards to your 2 questions, the *.jer and FSH files must be in the same directory as the jersey installer (my documents\nba live 2003) for it to work. Also, when a *.jer file is loaded, it automaticcaly moves the graphics files to the xteam folder (creating the folder if it doesnt exist!:-). However, this feature only works if the game is installed to c:\program files\ea sports\nba live 2003. So if the user has installed to a different directory (for some reason) this will not work.

As for the save slot, I would recommend the patcher leave this blank. If I were a user, I would want to install to every save slot.

I am sorry if this wasn't specified clearly in "patch tutorial.htm" included in the documentation folder of the PDK.

Ah just tried version 1.2 out and I don't have that problem of my game crashing (so far) and as I mentioned before, having the number co-ordinating with the jpegs and with the installation procedures from jersey patchers is great. Keep up the good work, Qweet!

Very great job, Qweet! :D

About installing to every save slot, this is a bad idea if you also have e.g. the NCAA patch installed...

I have my Live 2003 installed to C:\Programmer (the danish word for Program Files)\EA SPORTS\NBA Live 2003\
Wouldn't the gfx thing work so?

Hmmm I never thought of that... i will have to work on a way for the user to be able to change it, if you open the patch file in notepad and save it will mess it up...

No. The FSH files will remain in the my documents folder, you will have to move them to xteam yourself. I'm still working on a way to fix this.

Nice tool for people like me who aren't into dbf editing...
Today i tried to install a jersey-patch with this tool. What i couldn't really figure out was: Jersey makers often include readme files with the lines you have to add to teamgear.dbf to make it work. There you can find numbers for the lettering and the necktype instead of your descriptions. Can anyone please tell me which number refers to which lettering-/neck-type.
Thanks!

I was waiting for someone to ask this question...

As far as I see it,
Jersey Type : 0 = Home, 1 = Away, 2 = Alternate

Accessory Colour : Black = 2, and it increases by one in the order the names appear in the jersey installer (eg white = 3, royal blue = 4 etc)

Shoe : The shoe number in the DBF file is always one more than the one in the jersey installer (I was trying to make them line up with the create player shoes in the game) so if the readme says shoe 20 then it would be 19 in the jersey installer.

Sock Colour : Black = 0, White = 1

Neck Type : Round neck = 0, VNeck1 = 1, VNeck 2 = 2, VNeck 3 = 3

Lettering Type : Arched = 0, Horizontal = 1.

Hope this is what you're looking for.

What's your question? Is something wrong with the directory? It might be something with the zip.

BTW everybody keep an eye out for version 1.21 which I will release shortly. This gets rid of that annoying messagebox that pops up at the beginning, and also fixes a potential bug (I'm not sure if there's actually a bug or not, but I fixed it nevertheless).

So I will make a post here, but keep an eye out at the website anyway.

Alright, I finished version 1.21 of the patch. (Y)

This gets rid of the popup box at the beginning, and also fixes a few potential bugs I found when using it with windows XP.

I only updated the LITE version. So if you are updating, even from the PDK, just download the LITE version and use its files. You can overrite the exe file with the new v1.21 one.

Enjoy!

whenever i leave the save slot it blank it says there's an error, but when i tried putting a saves # (e.g. 001) it works , i thought once we leave it blank, it automatically installs in all saves folders

Theoritically, that's what it's supposed to do... :o

The only thing I can think of right now is do you have slot 000 in use? There has to be a folder called 000 and a teamgear.dbf file inside that folder for the auto-install feature to work correctly.
