? ABOUT ASSIGNING CPU SET PLAYS (DK) or anyone

Postby paul s. on Wed Apr 09, 2003 10:11 pm

First off, i will admit that thre is a much greater level of realism in the game assigning set plays for the CPU. To DK,Bulls 96, and others thank you for creating a new idea of realism. My only questions are does the CPU still call 'quick plays' such as ,ISOLATION,3 POINT, etc, or do they just keep running the same play throught the game. I will say this when i was ahead by 15 on a team with 2:00 left, then they started chuckin' 3's, but inbetween it was very rare that if at all that a 3 was attepted. I will admit i was playing the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers. So is it a possibility that its the teams im playing against are not known for shooting 3's in a game or is there another adjustment i should make?

actually any team u play having you leading in the 4th quarter will bombard you with threes. you just have to work on the clock and DONT GET ANY TURNOVERS. because at this stage you are prone to turn overs. and it will cost you the game i tell you.

Oh i know that, what i meant was that during the game if you are up a bunch,i was hoping that the CPU would take 3's a little sooner. I still won the games and all. And again i was wondering that after you assign a set play for the computer, does the CPU still audible to the quick plays or not?

If they did take that many 3's with more than two minutes left that would be just stupid and unrealistic as any smart NBA team, would clamp down on D until at least 1:30 before jacking 3's. I also wish that when a team is winning by so much that the CPU would give up and send in the 12th man. I hate bad sportsmanship and just doing that would make me happy. :D

Yeah, you have a point there colin, but it just seems like if the game is either close or a blowout, at least once in a while they would try a three, but not going all crazy with it. Its just that in all of these games, i think only 3 to 5 three's were attempted until that point. I dunno maybe thats how the teams i play against run their offense. Maybe i'll see a difference if i play against the likes of dallas, sacramento,or new york. As for the bench of the CPU, i manage to get enough people in foul trouble to where they have to bring in the 12th man.

But that's still not what I'm saying. Foul trouble is different then "OK, you win. These are my bad players."

If you set the offense for the computer, it will still call quick-plays on occasion.
The computer is more likely to put up threes if they're behind in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but that depends a lot on the quality of outside shooters. If you want them to loft it up more often, I suggest having them run Quick Hitters, Motion, and sometimes Ballscreen.
