Kobe Bryant's ratings in NBA Live 06. (9/8/05)

I don't think so. Not for this league, the NBA. All players there have a minimum quality to be there ( exception JASON COLLINS ) and It would be strange that in the best league in the world there are guys of 30 overall rating over 100. I prefer 50-99 just because it's simplier and overall just gives you an orientative messure of the quality of that player.

I think D-wade is better than Kobe. Some of his stats are alittle overrated.Dont get me wrong, hes good but I dont know about 95 overall. I wonder what T-macs ratings are. He is better than Kobe

I'm sick of people saying Dwade and LeBron are better than The Kobes and T-Macs of the league. Offensively, these 3rd yearers haven't really proven much at all while Kobe and T-Mac have had many games that they just exploded and you can clearly see which players are more intimidating on the court. Please stop being blind in overrating Dwade and LeBron so much. Maybe after a few years when they have gained much more expeirence, then we can compare. Right now, the veterans know the ins and outs of the league, and they can take over a game at anytime. Infact, I can't think of one thing Dwade is better than Kobe at...

i personally like kobe better than dwyane wade but both times they met last year, kobe did pritty bad...he kinda got owned a couple times by wade; blocked, stolen, and completely shutdown at OT during christmas. As for the overall season, kobe's stats were horrible compared to wut he used to do when shaq wuz there...shaq really does make the difference. i juss really hope next couple season's will be his breakout years or else it will be proven dat he will never be as good without a guy like shaq..oh yea by the way, im friking sure lebron and Dwade will be better than kobe in a couple years...

Passing, teamplay, driving, ball handling, shot blocking, last year was better at stealing. I do agree Kobe is the better player, but yea.....

3PT, That could make him play as a shooter
STEAL, This makes him an outside stopper
PASS, So you can play with him as playmaker
Off Awareness is +80, and inside scorer is 80, maybe that makes him an scorer

It's only my theory, but I believe is that way.

Kobe didn't ruin the Lakers, the owner and coaches ruined the Lakers. No matter who the player, a good owner/GM/coach doesn't let the player run the team. Those guys let Kobe run the team, and it was a disaster.

The only things I can think of right now its arguably blocking, teamplay is not really that much of a skill, I'm sure Kobe can work on that, it has been said that he will play much more of an off ball game this year, with Lamar being a point forward. Passing and ball handeling is pretty much a wash as I'v seen countless times when Kobe riped dead on and fancy passes, he is more of a scorer and SG, so lower assists are expected. Dribbling, it may even be the opposite. Kobe can split double teams with ease, if you watch enough Lakers games you will know that his double splitting technique is something else, works almost everytime. LeBron is something else though, he has some better natural abilities, such as jumping and he has more size, but don't mistake that for skills. LeBron is quite far behind in terms of that, right now, he's relying on his god given size and athleticism to punish weaker defenders, he needs to work on the intangibles such as footwork, jumpshot etc... But you're right, as of now Kobe Bryant is clearly a better and more skilled basketball player. He is known as one of the hardest if not the hardest workers in the league. His dedication in the offseason is amazing to say the least, but down the road, who knows?

Hey, I've been a fan of NBA Live for many years now. I love the game of basketball, and sports in general.

Now, I'd like to give my two cents on this Kobe/D-Wade/Lebron debate. I lived in Southern California for seven years, I was able to see many of the Lakers games. No one is disputing the fact that kobe is a brilliant basketball player, but I do believe that he is clearly a,"me first" type player. Dwyane Wade had Caron Butler and Lamar Odom... Where did he take that team? To the second round of the playoffs. Granted he had Eddie Jones, but when your given a team with 3 stars you should excell. As an ESPN Analyst said earlier this year Lebron could plass better then Kobe in eighth grade. I currently live 20 min. from Cleveland and have also had the luxury of watching Lebron on a nightly basis. If Lebron had played with Caron Butler and Larmar Odom... They'd definitly would make the playoffs. The Cavs backcort AVERAGED less the 10 points a game! The cavs have missed the playoffs the last two years by one game. I know what your thinking, If Lebron James was so good, he would have sure won atleast one more game... But the fact that the cavs won 37 and 42 games the past two years is a maricle in itself. People are saying Dwane Wade is better the Lebron, better then Kobe. D-Wade went off in the playoffs for something like 26/6/8... The funny thing is that Lebron averaged that for the season... Kobe needs to get the former Rhode Island graduate to step it up... D-Wade is playing with the gretest center in the last ten years, It helps your stats, but without Shaq, you cannot deny that the Heat would have won 45/47 at best. Lebron is great, but his Defense is questionable, Dwyane's is a stout defender, Kobe's is great. Once Lebron starts playing Defense and doesn't gamble to help is steal ratings, he will be clearly better the Kobe, and Dwyane. I laugh when people say Kobe is better the Dwyane or Lebron granted, Kobe has three rings, Dwayne has goten to the E.C. Finals... Lebron is better the Kobe right now, you can take that to the bank... Now that the cavs have one of the best starting 5 in the league, they should win 50-57 games... The Heat on paper should win 55-63 games and be crowned NBA champs... but I think that the additions will hurt the overall cohesiveness of the team ultimatly resulting in lost games and a dissapoing season... The lakers should win 40-41 games if their lucky...

Bottom Line: Kobe: 91 (lock down defender, good offensive game, needs to learn how to play team basketball)

Lebron: 95 (decent Offensive game, Needs to work on long range shooting... takes too many risks on defense, great passer)

Dwyane: 94 (stout defender, unstoppable driving ability, needs to work on mid-range shot... decent passes... Has Shaq, always helps in wins)

Yeah Kobe got 3. rings and lets remember how he played in those playoffs when Lakers thake those championship, he was more than great like u said and we need to know that he was in Law court for long time,after that Lakers changed almost all their roster so lot of things influenced on his game but he had a 27.6 ppg last year so no way Lebron or Wade is better then Kobe, if Wade or Lebron is better then Kobe rightnow what will be after 5-6 seasons-they will be much better then MJ, wich is absolutly imposible,

Kobe is a great athlete, end of sentence, no basketball player involved here, just a great athlete who doesn't know how to play a team game. And he won't learn, you can bet on it.
So Kobe shoots, yeah, that's right, Kobe flies, that's correct too. But Kobe doesn't pass the ball, he doesn't read the game, he just shoots no matter how well guarded he is, he just drives the lane no matter how many big man are in the key, he can jump over them.
Kobe won 3 rings, that's a good one, really. But I don't buy it.
Sorry to all the Lakers fan, your franchise is great, but you gotta get rid of Kobe. Just as T mac, they play for themselves, team winning or losing they don't give a cent, they play for their 50 points, their Top Ten play of the week. i agree to a point...kobe is a bball player...and he did contribute to the 3 rings...but...he doesnt know how to use his team...if he did they would've made the playoffs last season...he has skill no doubt about that...but he doesnt know how to play a team game like lebron...and he is a ball hog...thats wat makes him seem good...if he passed the ball more then he might not look as good...but his team as a whole would be pretty good...maybe even great.

Even some teams defense would be, let Kobe, he'll take his shots and make some of them, just try to keep him shooting from the arc, don't let him drive the lane. And that's what San Antonio and some other clever defensive teams keep doing nowadays. So Kobe is above 30 ppg but the Lakers do lose, so T-Mac scores above 25ppg but the Rockets are out of the Conference Finals.
So my point is, they do not contribute to team to win, they contribute to their +25ppg and a lot of isolation stuff in offense.
So, is Kobe contributing to win?? No, he's playing his game despite of his team's game. That's my point. When having Shaq on your side, it's so much easier to find the open guy, but somehow Kobe kept making it really hard by trying to get his 30 ppg.

You obviously have not seen the Lakers in the championship run with Kobe leading many series when Shaq wasn't enough. Remember the comback against Portland? Or the series against the Spurs, Kobe pretty much carried the team. Please don't tell me any good shooter with Shaq will get you chips, because it won't. Stop hating on players just because the media told you so, because if you actually watch the games, you would know you are talking nonsense.

Oh, and about the Olympics, I'll tell you right now that if you put Kobe and T-Mac on the team, game over... I'm sure many will agree. USA had nobody that can light up. When LeBron, Melo and RJ are your best shooters, you're in trouble.

So far Olympics- its not a problem with Kobe,Lebron,Melo or any other player in the U.S.A. team, we need to know that other countries outside U.s.a invest alot in basketball and those teams play better and better, European basketball is also better and better so you will need a better team if you want be the champ.
