Help Requested Creating Jersey Numbers

Postby kidd4mvp on Wed Apr 02, 2003 5:34 pm

:? :?

Hello,

I'm creating a fantasy jersey for a custom team and I'm having trouble creating the number graphics. Is there anyone who could give me the basic steps to creating and importing new number graphics (such as in either Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro)? Or even I could email the GIF files and someone could get them into the right format and pack them into an .FSH? That's all I really need is the numbers.

Problem is when I do it they show up blurred and off-color (I know that in-game graphics appear brighter but I'm getting transparency colors "leaking through" and all sorts of weird effects).

IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH THE BASIC STEPS like file types, procedures, I'd be greatly appreciative. I HAVE gotten pretty good at creating the jerseys and creating number fonts though, maybe we can work something out

you need nfshtool and eage.

find a *_num.fsh in xteam.viv that is acceptable for your needs in size and position, and extract that *_num.fsh using eage.

use nfshtool to open the *_num.fsh.

change the numbers from 256 (indexed) color to 24 bit (RGB) color.

edit the numbers but make the background surrounding them a single color that isn't in your numbers. Do not change the size of the numbers or their position in the background.

change the numbers back to 256 (indexed) color.

click on index to pack them back into the *_num.fsh. finally use eage pallette workbench to make the background (with which you weren't supposed to mess) transparent.

Thanks for the reply. Is FSHTool a better tool for importing that GFXPAK? What I've been doing is saving the files as GIFs, adding the transparencies in Paint Shop Pro then uploading the GIFs through GFXPAK. The transparencies aren't the problem. The problem is that the outlines of the numbers appear blurred and discolored like there's some other color "leaking" through.

i can't advise you on the gfxpak method, i've never tried that. the steps i explain i did in adobe photoshop and it hasn't given me any image clarity problems. IMO, gif files compromise the quality of the image, so maybe that has something to do with your color bleeding problem.
