jersey installer v1.1 released!

Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Postby Cameron on Wed Mar 26, 2003 11:01 am

Above when I said "without the slashes" I meant to say "without the quotations", sorry...

I am not sure why this would be happening. This has never happened to me. Or the other people who downloaded it. What I would suggest is to make sure that there is a teamgear.dbf file saved in 002... when it says invalid directory it just means it can't find the file...

Also, as FriarFan pointed out the directory in WinXP is not c:\my documents\nba live 2003\saves etc... so could that be the problem?

Sorry I cannot help more. As i have never had the problem I'm not sure how to fix it. Also, maybe you are on the wrong drive???

One other thing to check is if teamgear.dbf is for some reason "read-only". That might mess it up.

c:\my documents\nba live 2003\saves\002

thats what it should theoretically look like.

please reply quickly if this works or doesnt

I just tried copying a teamgear.dbf file to my desktop on a different computer...

loaded up jersey installer...

typed in the path c:\windows\desktop

jersey installed succesfully.

i can figure out what the problem would be brevin. it has to be at your end i think

everyone please keep downloading, give me feedback, tell me if you get the same problems as brevin or not.

BUMP LOL

Postby Cameron on Thu Mar 27, 2003 10:02 am

Did anyone other than Bredrin, FriarFan and Metaphysical3 download the program?

I need feedback so I know what to fix/add, or if you have no suggestions then at least give me a confidence booster!

I'm now working on a way to make this more "patcher friendly" by supporting automated installation.

Ya I know what you mean... I was thinking about that when I made it, but I didn't know how to implement it. Like I could go "white with green laces" etc but that would be a pain and almost redundant anyway because it would be so vague. The way I suggest in my readme (which everyone should read By the way) is just to go to the create player screen, as they're all in there.

Once I make the "patcher friendly" version I'm going to write a big tutorial on how to create jerseys, add them to the game, and package them for download. Maybe in that tutorial I will put screenshots of every shoe with its corresponding number.

Thanks for all the feedback metaphysical, its good to know its working out for you.

I love to hear what everyone thinks.

Qweet, you're awesome mate, this is truly one of the most useful live 03 patches ever . I hope to see you making more useful programs for live 03 in the future, you're something the live community definetly needs. :)

I just downloaded it, when i use it i will tell you how it goes...

 I have a request:

Make a Cyberface installer/blotch , for missing players...this would be good for installing cyberfaces for missing players, save you from doing any dbf editing...

Also, a couple of suggestions for your jersey installer, have popup question that asks you what system your running: (Windows 95, 98, ME or XP) so that it knows what directory to install to...you could maybe even do this as a drop down option...

and...

Have a "global edit" option... i'm not sure if this is possible but it would be good if you could have the option of having a global-edit (all files) or just one specific one. Get me?

Cheers big ears :D

thats a good idea nick,
we really need a blotch type program for live 2k3, would be a major tool.

also great program qweet,
as yet i haven't totally learnt how to use it, but it looks promising
thanks

Great idea! Actually there is a way to get the version of windows that is running without asking the user anything, its some command thats part of windows. I could use that command to check the version and then set the directory box accordingly... the only thing is I'm not sure what the directory is for any version of windows besides win98. I'm pretty sure they're all the same except for XP... but in order for me to implement this feature I would need to find this out.

Yes I was actually thinking about this when I first started, I just wasn't sure how to do it. Everyone wanted a release so I figured I'd just add it to a later version. I was thinking that if you wanted to change a specific teamgear you have c:\my documents\nba live 2003\saves\000 for example... but if you want to do all save files then you could take off the 000, and just have \saves and it will search through and find every teamgear.dbf in \saves and edit them all... I hope I am making sense... and I hope to implement this in a later version.

About the cyberface, well, now that I know how to edit dbf files with programming, I'm sure that would be possible! (Just not right now  )

The other thing I mentioned above about automation I am working on...
I was thinking of just having a simple text file that looks like this:

c:\my documents\nba live 2003\saves\
26
cl02
2002-03
3
1
1
0
0
0

Where each line applies to a different field in Jersey Installer. Then you open this type of file (say *.jer) with Jersey Installer, and it takes the fields from here (as opposed to the textboxes in the program) and installs them accordingly. This way the user would have to do nothing but click on the *.jer file and all the work would be done by the patchmaker.

I think this is a better way then other methods with BAT files. With bat files they get clogged up in my main directory, they are confusing, I don't know I just don't like them. With this method you would have a lot of .jer files that could be named appropriatly like detroit88-89.jer or something and it would be easy to keep organized.

I hope this is a good idea.

Version 1.1

Postby Cameron on Sat Mar 29, 2003 12:53 pm

Thought you guys might like to know that I have officially released version1.1 of my jersey installer.

The new additions are on the website, but I thought I'd list them here anyways:
- Changed "File installed succesfully" to "Jersey Installed Succesfully"
- Got rid of directory box for simplicity's sake
- Added the different neck types into the program
- Fixed the lettering types in the program
- Added a way to change every save slot at once as opposed to one at a time

As you can see I've done a lot of work. The best part is the last point, that you can change every save slot at once instead of one at a time. There is one problem with this: saves slots can only increase in value by one at a time because it stops when it doesn't find one. For example, in a saves folder with 000, 001, 002, 003, 010, 011; 000 through 003 are changed but 010 and 011 are not. This is easy to fix if you rename the folders.

The other nice addition is the deletion of the directory box. It was causing too much stress. Now all that has to be done is the actual program must be copyed into the nba live directory (in my documents) and the program will work.

it can be downloaded here:
http://qweet.bigmoron.com/jerseyinstaller.htm
PLEASE READ THE README! it has lots of important info.

Tell me what yall think.

Hi. I have Download Accelerator Plus installed and can't seem to download your jersey installer from qweet.bigmoron.com. I was able to download version 1.0 at himheru.tripod.com. Could you please upload version 1.1 to your tripod website so I can download it there?

Thanks.

Qweet, suggestion for an improvement and easier/quicker use: put a color box next to the name of the color in the accessories color field? It'd sure make things easier and quicker to go through...

9mm, I don't understand what you're asking, sorry...
Please elaborate.

Botchok, I will upload it to tripod when I have some time... but the file is only 100kb anyway so you probably don't need to use DAP to download it. I would just download it normally, it takes like 10 seconds on dialup..
but i will try to upload to tripod when I have time.

Ok, I'll try again Qweet. I can use an example from phpbb aswell for this... see when you click on the reply box here on the board, right above the box where you type your message, there's a dropdown menu for "Font colour". Now see on that list, how not all words are black, but colored in the corresponding color for each..? You could do something like that in your program, in the accessory color list, making it user friendly... I hope you're getting what I'm saying now... its just for quicker and more user-friendly use...

Oui je comprends monsieur! I'm not sure if this is possible though...
First of all, I'm not sure what colours I would use to represent the one in the game...
Second, I'm not sure if its possible to change the colour of the text in a dropdown box anyway, i'll have to check that out.

Thx for the advice though.

BTW is anyone running this on winXP? Did you have to run it using special settings or anything? I want to know if there's any compatibility issues.

Im glad you got it downloaded Botchok.

Right now I'm working on the "patcher friendly" capability for the jersey installer. When that is done, i have a few ideas.

I might work on a Blotch type program where you can change the created players into real players and give them a cyberface, and
I'm also thinking of making a custom team wizard to create a custom team.

Gimme some feedback on whats out there now though:)
