Roster Patches

Postby ramado72 on Thu Mar 27, 2003 10:00 am

Hey guys!!! i was wondering how do you save your existing saved files (000, 001, 002) when you need to install an updated roster patch? the new roster patches occupies the slots 000, 001, 002... so that means if you don't save your exisitng files in another folder... the new roster patch will overwrite your old one...

Just go into the saves folder and change their names to 003, 004 etc.

tried that one before... it didn't work... they still retained their old save names when i tried to load them from the game... what happened was that the new rosters had 001, 002, 003 and the old ones also... in effect the save names showed two 001, 002, and 003

It's certain that the same slot number will appear twice. The numbers is saved in save.dat of each save slot folder, but i tried to modify it and wasn't able to solve the problem. When i wanted to load the saved info, i saw the contents of save.dat file instead of usual info ("001 Franchise abcd mmddyy").

The best solution that I can suggest is:

  • Make a copy of your saved folders somewhere else on your hard drive.
  • Make new saves of the same type in slots 004 onwards ie. if you have a Franchise saved in 000 and a roster saved in 001, save a new Franchise in 004 and a new roster in 005.
  • Copy the original files to the new slots (000 to 004 etc), except for save.dat.

You might not have to make a save of the same type as the original, but it doesn't hurt.

The best solution i can suggest is:

Open your game.
Selct "Options" and "Load/Save".
Load the roster you want copied and press save into a new.
Delete the old one.
Now you can install the new roster! :)

That actually makes more sense. A problem I encounter so often, trying to look for the hardest solution when there's an easier method.
